It seems the metal is not solid all the way around the 1/2" steel pin going through the two portions of the jack. They should have made that hole SOLID, instead of beeing cheep and using some other method.

I would take this maybe to court or something. This is DEFF a safty issue</STRONG>

I hope you get money from Acura...you could have been hurt and I'm sure that now you can't sleep right at night and your kids are depressed cuz their dad could have been violently killed in front of them by the faulty jack...

Honestly, I just want to make sure my car is OK. As Tom2 and others pointed out I'm sure they could lean this on user error unless I could somehow beyond a reasonable doubt prove that the jack was faulty and that I followed all instructions to the letter. I'm not in this for money or free stuff I just want to make sure my car is OK and that no permanent damage resulted.

Dude! I FINALLY get to the point where I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I can change a wheel all by myself, and now you scare me with THIS crap.

Oh well, maybe my first gen won't be so heavy that it'd crush the life out of my foot, which will almost definitely be in the line of impact when this happens to me.

Glad you aren't hurt, Ernmeister.

Your entitled to your opinion Tom but since you were not there it's just an opinion. No fight from me. I'm surprised you did not use this as fuel to tell us how good BMW jacks are and how when you had your CLS the jack was not as good blah blah blah....</STRONG>
Damn, you must be getting old..... You're no fun anymore.....

Just for the record-- I've never even had to take the jack/spare tire out of my CL-S or my M3 (yet). BTW, didn't you know that all Bimmers come equipped with superior tires that are resistant to deflating?

Eclipse, when you jacked up the car, was it on a relatively flat surface or was it on an incline like a driveway? If you were on a driveway that was slanted I think this would be the most likely cause for the jack buckling.

Somebody else brought this up but I think you missed the post.

I used my POS OEM jack to replace all 4 rims/tires when my CP-035's came in and didn't have any problems with the car being jacked up for almost an hour. Besides you and the guy with the viper, this is the first time I've ever heard of a jack buckling.

Glad to hear you were ok and hopefully your car isn't severely damaged.

Damn Poobah... sorry to hear that!! Glad you're OK and you weren't under the car or anything.

BTW, I edited the curse in your title... you know there's no cursing in titles. But in your topic it's OK!! Seriously, hopefully nothing major happened.
