My impression of the CLS 10 months later:

She may not be the prettiest girl at the prom but she'll turn some heads.

She may be missing some luxury appointments but she sure has her share.

She may not be the fastest car at the track but she can kill many other cars.

CLS = All Around Winner IMO
This car does everything very well IMO which
makes it such a target for nay-sayers. I don't think the car is particularly BEST in any category, but my line card gets a '9' not a ten on speed, luxury, and looks.

Absolutely... Honda/Acura automobiles are typically good all around performers. Rarely the best in any one category but damn near the top in all of them!!

Can't argue here. It's a nice car. No obvious shortcomings no glaring triumphs.

Pop on some sways and change out those springs, and you will feel that "boat" feeling sail away, The handling is greatly improved, Very happy with the mods, money well spent

I love my car and wouldnt trade it in for anythng, well, maybe a mb amg cxar or gs430, but only one of those. well, 1 gloroius year and well, i love my car, but i wish i had soem headers and some coilovers, anyone wanna lend me some.

May 27th ... one year ... agree with all of the aforementioned comments. More than enough HP to keep up with just about anything out there ... quiet ride with the CD crankin' ... reliable so I ain't having to drive loaners ... all in all a great car.

I've had my car for about 2 months now and I love it. It is very good considering I went from a '93 Explorer Eddie Bauer(Shitty Leather by the way) to this. I agree that it does not do just one thing excellent or one thing bad, and that it is an all around great car. I am very pleased.

After 11 months and almost 33,000 miles, I have no complaints. More power and better handling would be nice. Those thing are in the future. Still, I am extremely happy with my choice. This car does exactly what it was designed to do, and does it with style.

well this month is 10 months, so i guess i should chime in.

my issues are few in number and very petty, but since i'm a perfectionist, they're worth mentioning:
1. a little rattling coming from the back - i suspect it's the rear decklid where the speakers are housed. in a previous discussion, there's been talk of the back rattling b/c of the base from the rear speakers, and a temp solution was to get some excess carpet or anything to stick between the inside-cabin brake light and windshield to stop the rattling, but i haven't heard of any other idea that will stop it.

2. the buck u get goin from 3-2. always had this problem, and since many other people get it also, at least i know there's nothing majorly wrong.

3. the issue of goin from 2-3 under "aggressive" accelerating. see #2.

4. the bloody sunroof doesn't open all the way, and with my visor, sticking my head out is like replacing the stock road lamps with PIAA 19224's (tight squeeze).

5. the leather is a bit thin and easy to scratch up. if the leather was a bit thicker while the cushioning underneath was a little softer, u would get a better quality seat.

like i said, little petty stuff. i'm glad i bought the car. IMO, it's a far better car than the Mustang that i semi-bought last summer (put a down payment and less that 24 hours later, sales man calls to tell me the Atlantic Blue was discontinued). it was fate, a blessing in disguise!!

everyone's right, this car doesn't do 1 thing spectacular, but it does many things very well, and that makes this car a great value.

Chris

I got the two bolts that hold the break light loose from the trunk, and pushed the break light forward as far as I could (it doesn't move much). Then re-tightened the bolts. I did this a couple of days ago and haven't heard that rattle so far...

I'm also new here and I also had someone smash my trunk in but my baby's back.
Had my car for a year now w/ 12,000 miles on it and still ove my car. Only prob that I had was a mud guard that came loose. But I read a post about starting up the car took longer than usually. I noticed it on my car too so I might get that checked out. Other than that, great car.

Well said "Boombah". I love the car. First 2 door I have had in 8 years. Well worth the bucks. You don't see them everyday either.

Had the car since March 2000. Can't say I have many complaints. Got the gold and definitely catches eye -- including those of 2 cops while I was in traffic. Don't think this car is as great as the M3 but I guess it's 75% as good which is c/w price. However, I thought the interior appt were better than the BMW -- GPS, in-dash chagner. And I didn't mind giving up the dual climate and other "non-essential" features for passengers. One problem with the gold -- there are only 2 in New Orleans so people always seem to know where I've been. Fuel economy is great for 80+ cruising. Women love the GPS (& the color as well.) Otherwise, I couldn't pry my dad away from mine until he got his CL500.
