Very nice work man! Is it possible to get "3.2CL Type-S" also for your door sill idea?

Keep us posted on the work.

Thanks. Yeah, the way I'm doing it, you can totally customize what you want to "glow" cause its a vinyl overlay! So just get your vinyl made to say whatever you want! Its gonna be a very easy Do-it-yourself.

Great project. After seeing the illuminated door sills on my buddy's brand new RX330 the other night, I've wanted to do it to my car. Good timing.

How much were the EL tapes? I want to do this, but I will probably do it myself instead of buying. I just like messing around with my car.

Update - 12/2/04

Alright guys, I've installed my version of illuminated door sills on the driver's side and will do the passenger side this weekend (Wish I could get it done before Sat to show it off at the NOVA meet but its not gonna happen). I will post pics this weekend so stay tuned. Oh and just to give you a heads up on the install, it was very easy and didn't take too long. Just have to make sure you have the right materials and tools. It's definitely a DIY project. Pics to come soon!

No sorry man. Got some house stuff to do on Sat. I wish I could check it out cause I only live like 10 mins away. Maybe I could split for a few to check out the rides...we'll see. Where's the meeting place again?

Alright guys, I'll post a DIY with some pictures this weekend! Seriously, it wasn't that hard at all, you just need the right wiring components and materials. CL_J, I actually tapped right into the door jam switch on the pillars which contain the seat belts. That part was easier than I expected. Like I said I'll write up a DIY and it will give everyone a "how to". In the meantime, I ordered the el flatlite from www.beingseen.com. Talk to Ed and tell him what you're trying to do, he'll hook you up. Price varies depending upon how big of tape you need and how you want the lights to come on (you may need only 1 12v inverter). Hope this holds you guys over until the DIY. Oh and BTW, thanks for the props.

What Type-S sills? You mean evolutiondesign's aluminum ones? If this is what you're talkin about.....I guess you could if you're willing to try to cut out the text.

I'm also in the process of hooking up with a CNC machinist who might be able to do some sets of aluminum sills for me. I currently have an ACURA font which I might be able to use (have to ask permission of author) with the CNC machine. Assuming "ACURA" could be done, I would think "Type S" would be possible as well.

Turns off when the door is closed. Each side (driver and passenger) are independent of one another so when only the driver's side door is open, only the driver's side sill is on. Very simple to do this by tapping into the door jam switches on each side using a spaded "T" style tap.
