Actually, I could have done that a little better but I started out on gravel and notice that the VSA kicked in and screwed up the whole damn thing. I was only screwing around though.

my offer to help you install your headers is rescended.

I need to borrow your camera to take a vid of my car. It sounds hella mean after installing my exhaust.

at least I think it does, I haven't heard it from outside the car yet. Except for when my gf revved it while in park.

Not too bad for a first...this is better than half the videos over on streetfire.net! Chris, do you have comptech headers or what brand? As in my sig I want to get them very soon, but comptech seems expensive. Hmmm how the hell do you do headers anyways?

I should have named this the "CO Members only" thread!

Thanks for all the comments guys!

I actually want to start making some more vids. I think I need some editing software though.

We could meet up soon (like maybe this coming weekend) and get some clips if you want. Around Centennial Airport might be a good place, or we could go up Lookout. Let me know if you want to, I'm down. (Weather permitting, of course)

The headers I have are actually the same ones Fuzzy has on his 6spd. They are made by XS Power. I got them for $150 off ebay, same as him. Apparently the company has a really bad rep but Fuzzy has had good luck with his headers so far so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They seem like a good quality as far as the welds and everything goes, but then again, I don't have Comptech ones sitting around to compare them to. The way I see it, if they suck, they suck. And I'll only be out $150.00. No big loss. I could buy a whole bunch of these for the price of one Comptech set. I agree, they are very expensive and personally, I can't justify the cost when I can find them cheaper that will give me the same results. Not to mention, they're going on a car with 60K miles on it.

Headers bolt right up from underneath. Except in my case, where you can't get the nuts off of the bolts to remove the OEM manifold and A-pipe!

^^^ wrd rust sucks!!! it took me SOOO long to do my install. i actually went back to stock last night. i would advise you to buy all stainless hardware at your local hardware store. its a cheap investment, and when i went back to stock last night everything came off without even using a drop of WD40. video was pretty cool! whts that white stuff all over the ground?! i would suggest going in the direction away from the sun nexttime so we can see your speedo shoot up!

My TL-P is faster than that, and it's completely stock! Is your little actuator-thingy under the hood that commonly fails (dunno the name) working?

All I know is that the VSA kicked in, I thought I was out of the sand (they put that on the roads instead of salt) but I really wasn't. The VSA caught it and slowed me down I think.

What exactly does the actuator do?? Does it have something to do with Vtec?

See if those threads help. I know it's probably difficult to tell just from watching that video, but I have videos of my TL-P like that (even with TCS on) and it was faster. I drove CL-Ss on test drives, and they were also quicker.

That does help, and I have seen it before but I guess I assumed that it has someting to do with Vtec. I guess not! You know what ass-u-me'ing does!

I'm gonna try this later and see if it is a problem. Sometimes the car feels dog-ish or not as quick as it used to and I wonder if this is why. I also wonder if that is why my car won't break loose when it nails 2nd gear anymore too.

Thanks! I guess good things come from posting a video.

ok, So I looked here http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...catdisplay.jsp for the actuator but I'm not certain I know what i'm looking for. Can someone give me a hand so I can find out how much it will cost me to replace it if I need to? Thanks!!!

Appreciated! I want to get them done soon and if my buddy can't help me, I'll be hitting you up. Do you have an air hammer? Probably gonna need one to get a couple of the nuts loose.

Thats a good question... Does it?

There is probably so much info on this stupid part here already. more than likely no need to start a new thread on it.

honestly the only nuts that might be a problem are the three coneecting the downpipe to the cat. You could always take it to a local shop and have them loosen those nuts for you, then drive it back to wherever you will be doing the work and get the rest off. I have a big ole breaker bar which should be sufficient to get the rest of teh bolts off. It was for me. The three cat bolts were my only freaking problem.

Those were the ones that were my FIRST problem on the first install ATTEMPT. Second ATTEMPT, I did exactly that, took it to a local shop, drove it back to my folks garage, proceded to ATTEMPT to get the nuts off of the front manifold/A-pipe and more than likely stripped up the nut trying to get it off. I said, "screw it!" and haven't touched it since. It likes pissing me off so I've been avoiding it.

Sounds like I might have a whole new problem with this IMRC though... I will admit, the car does NOT seem as powerful as it did when I got it.

Nope... it's fine as far as I can tell.

Funny you mention that. These wheels and tires are lighter than my stockies with the 235/45's on them. I can feel the difference immediately.

hah, yeah those were kind of a pain, but when I did mine I just used a regular socket wrench and a pipe over the nadle, and 3 different lengths of extensions for the socket. I had to use different combinations of the extensions for different bolts on the same header>downpipe connection.

I can bring all my shit over and we can take a quick vid of our cars afterwards sometime soon if you want. I'm hoping to get some help with my cams install, just in case I need someone to hold something like the belt tensioner while I adjust something, I've done every single one of the installs on my car myself except my very first rotor install.. before I found out one of them was warped.

Doing it by myself is possible, but it's proibably almost twice as hard.

I have spring break next week, and will probably have tuesday off from work, and will have every other day off before 5, so any time then is fine with me.

That sounds good. Except, my days off are Sat., Sun., & Mon., every week so it will have to be sometime during that time. I've also got a detail to do this Sat..

If you help me with the headers, I'll help you with the cams.

I can do sunday or monday as long as I get back up here by 5. Are you still in castle rock right now? If so then that means we'd have till 4 at the latest (to be safe) to finish.

I can do a header install myself in less than two hours (assuming no rusted bolts).

1 - Yeah, I'm still in Castle Rock and we can do it at my folk's place (unless you would rather me come up there, which I can do as well).

2 - Rusty, stuck, and mutilated bolts (nuts rather) are present. At least two. I probably should pick up a few new nuts. What kind/size would I need?
