my cl-s hesitates at idle...

Lately I've noticed that whenever I'm stopped, for example at a light, the engine will vibrate or hesitate momentarily. When this happens I notice the tachometer dips 100 or 200 rpms. This happens for only a second or two, no more. Then the vibration stops and the rpms go back up. Note, as best as I can remember, this doesn't occur when the car is in Park...Only in Drive and at a stop. What could be causing this? Could it be the cold air intake? (I removed the filter to see if it was dirty...It wasn't really. But I'm cleaning it anyway) What else?

I noticed something very similar tonight while driving home.....while driving down the road, about 45-50 mph, the rpms dropped to like 200 or 300, stayed there for a second and then went back up to over 1000??? What up with this? Is this the beginings of a tranny problem?

I've been told its winterized fuel, idle air valve, or the trans going bad...........

Finally... somebody else with my exact same problem! It acts like the tranny completely disengages, then picks back up again. Dealer can't find anything - I'm waiting for the tranny to explode. Can anybody help???

The only definitive thing I've read on the boards for this problem is to have your air idle intake valve checked (I think that's what the darn thing is called).
My car had the same problem last winter, but it was VERY intermittent - only happened about 5 times that I noticed. Haven't noticed it at all this winter, so I'm ignoring it.

The hesitation/vibration when coming to a complete stop happens to mine too! Dunno what it is, but it only happens sometimes. Maybe ten times this whole winter I really noticed it.
