My CL is going bye bye... buying M5 or Jag Type-R or Audi RS6 ?

Selling my CL to a family member, now I am looking for 4-dr sport sedan (baby in oven so must be 4-door), either M5, Jag Type-R, or Audi RS6. (these are the only 3 sedans I like).

Lexus GS430 is nice but too luxo & conservative looking.

Most recent JD Powers lists above cars w/ very poor reliability (except for Lexus of course) ... Dammit, don't want a POS $60K + car !

Decisions, decisions...

BTW, my Enkei Bortex RPM2 18" wheels are for sale in black market.

BMW's seems to be more reliable than Jag & Audi... M5 is edging out on my list also...

Thx.

Close my eyes & let go $60K+

Mr2 got plenty of offers, but not my asking price (I blame the economy ), the wife said keep the MR2 if I've have to sell at a big loss... So Mr2 is still in the garage.

I had a guy an a new e55 pull up next to me and he started to rev his engine at me. I roll down my window and said "oh hell no, im not racing your e55" He laughed and took off. OMG that car is just insane, the sound and speed of that car made me wet.

Wonder how it handles in the twistes though. BUt i would still pick that car over the current m5.

I say wait to see what the new m5 has before making a choice.

The new M5 should have V10 w/ 500hp ?

If it's coming out in 2004, then I may have to wait

Caddy CTS V-series 400hp/390tq is on sale in Jan of 2004.
Above average reliability, looks pretty good in my book ... Hmmmm

Manufacturer spec:
4.6sec 0-60, & lapped around Nurremburg track alot quicker than current M5...

$55K- ish...

The E55 specs are brutal, I guess haven't been keeping up w/ M.B. sports sedans at all... M.B. may need a visit.

As for selling the kit, I am considering it...
Exchange buyer's silver front bumper, sides, & rear bumper + some cash... Very do-able, but must be local DFW area for convenience sake.

I'll post when I am ready to let the kit go

i know ur not crazy abt the gs300...but i think you should go for one and turbo it...the motor can hold 400-500 whp w/stock internals, depending upon tuning...now if u upgrade the internals on that car, ur looking at a easy 600whp daily driven monster. W/an lsd, torque convertor and a few other items, ur launches will improve greatly and you will suprise quite a few people

However, if the gs300 is not your cup of tea, i'd go w/the e55 followed by the rs6

I know Lexus is #1 in reliability & customer service, but GS & LS are too conservative for my taste, even if they have a sweet 4.3 V8... Unless Lexus comes out w/ an IS430 w/o Altezza lights & less gaudy interior & gauge clusters.

Don't laugh, it is the economy. There are alot of good deals on used high end vehicles. Dot.comer's lose their jobs, and the first thing to go is the sportscar w/ the high monthly payments

E55 spec look good, but at 4200lbs... ugh...

Too funny...

Been too busy w/ work & preparing for baby lately to drop by and talk... This is a great forum & great people , I'll still drop by even when I am sitting a new V8

Went to look at a silver M5 last week w/ the wife, she said "you've been a devoted & hard working husband, you deserve an M5" :P

I jokingly replied "uhhh, don't need your permission, but it's nice to have your blessing "...

Synth19, Nguyen pronouced kind of like "ngwien", damn that's hard to type out

Forget about performance. Get the Lexus LS430, you would not regret buying it when you sit in that super quiet cabin........

But if you have to get performance, a dark gray RS6 is my vote, besides this particular color, I would vote for M5.

i wouldnt even consider the s type r an option if your worried about reliability, i would go for a black or dark grey RS6 myself, but im liking the E55 alot more and liking the M5 alot less! whatever way you go, your gonna get an awesome car that RIPS!

That's my opinion also...

SDog, Jags (Ford owned or not) have better reliability than BMW, in most recent J.D. Powers reliability, and MB & Audis are at the bottom of the heap w/ VWs & Daewoos

The S-Type R is a hot car, you can get good deals on them now. Audi's RS6 and the MB E55 sell for MSRP, you don't have to pay over on either at this point.

The S-Type R with Nav is just about $20k less than the RS6, if the Jag is discounted that's even more money in your pocket. At its base price, you're looking at a $10k difference with the E55 (which isn't terrible). Although, you start adding a few options and the car can go past the $80k mark quite easily.

If you like the Jag, the savings would just be the icing on the cake.

DBox, but I cannot see myself ever in a GS or LS, when I went to look & drove the GS430, I feel like driving my papa's car.

Beltfed, with this economy & 2003 ending, dealers are bending backwards to sell their cars, especially high end ones.
Discounts are everywhere... I tested and wrote a review months ago regarding the Jag Type-R, the dealer was treating me like a celebrity so they could move this Jag... But I wanted to wait to see how these Jags's reliability do after some time...
