My car vs. Porsche 911 Twin Turbo
Well, before anything, I just want to say that I lost (big surprise huh?). Was headed east on I90 this weeekend and saw a 911 TT in front of me. This guy was already gassing it up so I decided, why the heck not? To my surprise he was going about 100mph when I caught up, then he saw the cute little Yellow M3 behind him and decided to floor it. I quickly shifted it into 4th and took chase. I was expecting him to blast off! but again, he pulled away slowly.
We blasted through the light traffic for a good couple miles (he couldn't shake me at 120mph) until we hit an open area. Well, I shifted 5th and was on my last leg with that done. Im pretty sure that he has a 6th gear on reserve. We had it going extremely fast when I noticed my car wouldn't go anymore. I hadn't been looking at the speedometer until I now realized that both my speedo and rpm needles were sunk to the right. I was actually going about 154mph with my rpms all the way to redline. I looked up and this guy is still going, pulling away!!!! He must have been up to 180 or somewhere like that when I knew that it was a lost cause and put my ///M engineered brakes to work to slow me down from 'jail time' speed.
What a ride, after I got to the restaurant that I was headed to, I came out sweating from the rush!! Too bad I didn't get to see the front side of the car for long
One question that I have. I thought the speed limiter was @ 137mph on my car. What happened? Did some M3s not get it or is my car chipped? If it is chipped, anyone know how to check?

Actually I couldn't even tell that I was going that fast. It felt like I was going 70mph w/ no vibration anywhere or no excessive wind sounds. Good thing I got the Pirelli PZero system on my car.

M3Sins, is this a repost of the thread you started on 4/16 (it's since been removed)? I could swear you already told this story. I remember it because of what you said about being sweaty when you finally got to the restaurant you were going to. Not doubting the account, just want to make sure that a)I'm not going crazy and/or b)you didn't race the same 911 TT on the same highway while going to the same restaurant and had the same exact outcome.

Yes this is a repost. The last one was linked to my website, so I didn't want people to go there in a forceful manner. I deleted my last thread today and started a new one here with the same story but with the 'text' here.

M3Sins,
If you were really going that fast then your car must be "sharked".
All e36 M3 are limited to 137 MPH. However, get rid of the governer and you'll see a true speed of about 155 MPH, without any other mods.

I forgot to tell you--
If you do have a software upgrade, there's no way you can tell by just looking. There's not really a "chip" that is replaced.
It's more like a "reflash" of the ECM.
