19 yrs old building a motor as far as you can push it ?
At 19 I was holding gas pedals as hard as possible everywhere.
I'm willing to bet if OP does go threw the pipe dream stage and builds the 700 hp motor it will be smoked before it would even be broken in.
5 figures in the sh!@#er.
look into stronger head and engine studs and bolts.
I think factory head gaskets might also be a waste

something tells me youre in for a surprise op.

not knocking you but i think you should have done your research. 600 hp is not enough to get you 10.50's in a fwd 6 speed acura.
by the time you manage to put that power down with FWD you will most likely already be going 100+ mph and the 1/4 will be done with.

dont be like the supras and put down a 13 sec 1/4 at 156 mph.

do your research

and i need proof

95% of current 2nd gen are dreamers who'd like to get boosted, have some rare parts, but are too broke to drop the money so they go with shittier cheaper alternatives, or scrap the idea entirely.

There maybe 2 or 3 guys currently doing anything remotely interesting to there cars, but days of Scalbert, ThinJim, All Motor, Bigguyonbike etc have passed the 2nd gen crowd and now left with broke teenagers/early twenty somethings living pipe dreams. Then you get lowballers pming you 1500 shipped for a supercharger or 300 for some headers.

I doubt very seriously you are building a block.

Thats because they know a CL is not the chassis to build for serious speed. And I agree with your statement. The price of the CL has dropped so much kids that would have gotten a Civic/Integra 6 years ago are getting the CL.

im gonna be running a single 3 1/2 inch exhaust and the turbo is gonna be located around the muffler area... do not bash on me for running a greddy t88.. i know its a big turbo but my moms bf totaled his sc300 and he had the t88 on it and sold it to me for 600 bucks
and im making a small estimate with hp im shooting for 600 hp but i could make less or more....
and its gonna be a drag car

Actually that turbo is not as big as you make it sound like, it is good up to 600-700 HP but it is larger than most have put on their CL's

Actually, if I recall correctly, the guy said he was going to keep it fwd. It also sounds pretty do-able to be honest

I agree that he probably didn't do it though

I should be right up there with you guys, I'm planning on dropping in an old 440 Mopar with a 8-71 SC, and making it AWD. Should be pretty straight forward install. I'm using the front diff from a STI and the rear diff from a EVO, with a transfer case from a TLS SH. Was not to sure what to use for a tranny though. Any ideas? Maybe a BMW SMG 7 speed? I' also thinking about dropping the 440 and just settling for a Bugatti 16.4 engine, but replacing the 4 turbos with 4 comptech superchargers.

The hardest part will be getting the IMRC to work on this set up! Anyone have the wire codes?

Provided they have enough money anything can be done. Most kids buying a 8 year old car today don't have the kind of money to make a swap like that.
And NO, a LS1 will not fit into the stock engine bay of a CLS in FWD configuration.

Besides, just because something can be done, does not always mean it should be done.

Jacob, how much would it cost, if you had to guess, a swap like a LS1 into a CLS in FWD. To do it so that you could drive the car anywhere and have all the functions like PS, AC, Heat, ??? How much do you think, just a ball park figure?

Probably around 5 to 9 grand. It could be lower depending on if you know someone who has their own shop or if you are good with fabrication.

Don't question whether he has enough to afford it or not. You do not know one thing about the kid. There is a 22 year old member on this board who drives a $70k new M3. The dude in question could very well have enough money to get it done.

The most expensive part of this build will be the tree that's involved.

Nah, I'm good. I think $9K would be on the very low side for a swap like that. I've done many swaps (American V8 stuff and a few Veedubs) and my guess would be $18,000 and up. Not too many fwd trannies to mount up to a LS1 that are going to fit in the CLS. You are looking at all kinds of custom fabrication skills that the avg kid that does not possess.

I see it all the time in car forums. Some kid (who can't even change his oil) buys a car and post about his dreams for a car and then realizes "wow that costs a lot of money". Not saying this is Andresrivers case at all. But we see it all the time.

The more I think about it I don't even think it could be done in any form of a respectable manner for ever $18,000.

THis is just my opinion Jacob based on experiance. I don't need to prove anything to you. How many swaps have you done?

I agree with ch46, there are too many people in the honda category that wish they had these wheels or that turbo and probably don't even have a job.

If I recall correctly, the car that the kid wanted to get the motor from was also fwd. That is why it doesn't seem nearly impossible
