My 2nd 6 Speed - Better than than the 1st!

After all my compalaining about getting the wrong color 6 speed a year ago, (white/tan) I luckily got the 6 speed I wanted this weekend, at $10k less than it would have been new a year ago. Love it, has Navi, anthracite, 8k miles. Thanks for putting up with my complaining, I love this car more than the first one. I flew to Tulsa OK Fri morning, and the car navigated me home by 7pm to Austin. Working on some mods I haven't seen anyone do, will post soon.
People quitting the CL are crazy!! or they never had the 6 speed!!

Don't mean to dis the Automatics, the CLS is a beautiful machine, in either config. here's a badge I'm adding for the 6 speed, but not sure how, just the 6, no V. something is coming off too.

It's funny I switched out the stock rims on my white 6 speed, and this car also had the same rims. These are NOT the CL rims, they are the 03 TLS rims. look similar but do not stick out like the CL rims, no curb rash. had same on my white CL too.

Washed, claybarred, and waxed the car with that new Meguiars wax, NXT, did the windows too. pretty good and easy wax.
I'm ready for video now, and window tint, and CAI, got the splash guards I need to put on.
You can tell I'm excited, the interior is so nice, compared to the tan. want to do some dash trim but looks harder to find now.

Did that guy advertise on auto trader? If so I was interested in that cl as well...just was too far...nice guy though. I felt he was in a location where no one would appreciate his great ride.

Yes, I had been communicating with him for 2-3 months on it. was just waiting to sell my white CL. Finally sold mine, and bought his a week or two later.
Only other one I saw like it was at the Las Vegas dealer with 3x as many miles for $26k. 6 speeds are hard to find, and with Navi is a rarity.
Good luck, are you still looking? particular colors? If I see one I'l let you know.

No longer looking. I purchased an 04 Anthracite CL six speed...
except it has 4 doors! I am really loving the color and the car itself. My car is filthy right now and it still looks pretty good. Amazing how the anthracite is a pretty dark color yet it hides dirt really well.

Very nice. Anthracite is Sharp. Do they all come with ebony interior? I would prefer the ebony with my TW as well. You are absolutely right. I will admit that I am crazy for selling out to a lowly Mitsu at that! What about just the "6" or "typeS 6" badging?

Thanks all, I love it, needs a drop bad tho and tint.

Kid- all CLs came with ebony interior, but the Red, Black, and White colors had parchment as an interior color option too.
white with ebony is the rarest, red with ebony is pretty rare too.

How do you guys think rims near the same color would look?

I'm looking at the TSX Silver Star option rims. They are a lighter gray than anthracite.

They're 17". what is the advantage of bigger rims, 18". mostly for looks? I'm too cheap to ditch the 17" tires just yet.

Deciding on the spoiler, I'm not a big spoiler fan but I don't want to repaint the trunk either.

WOW! I have a brother!

I thought I was the only guy crazy enough to buy a 2003 CLS6 and trade it for another 2003 CLS6. #1 was satin silver, no navi and no spoiler.

#2 is anthricite, navi, with a spoiler.

123456: Check this guy out for your wheels. Mine are the "black satin chrome" and they look kick ass on my anthricite CL.

www.goodrichtechnology.com

He did my set of four for $400, but you pay shipping both ways to San Fran. This is powder coating and it will never wear out with a little (VERY little) care.

Tell Gary Goodrich Dave the powder coater sent you. He'll know who I am.

PM me if you want details.

chaptorial- yea I've seen your car pics, it's nice!
dfredor- yes I remember you trading for another 6sp, and the powder coating rims.
I'm not putting V6 on the car. I'm looking how to put 6 Speed.
I've got the 6 that matches the red S from a VW. just tinkering with it. On my first Preluded Honda used to badge them as 5 Speeds. I like differentiating the 6 speed.

Not sure about the badges yet.
I put on my alum Acura CL 'red' S sills tonight, looks awesome. I dremeled the ridges on the plastic stock sills so these would lay flat, I dremeled the edges of the aluminum sills so they wouldn't catch on someones shoe and get bent (they're rough edged) , removed the adhesive the sills came with, (that was the hardest part!). Super glued them on.
They are flat and flush against the stock sill and should not get damaged.
Next, I'm removing the spoiler, and plugging the holes with match painted plugs. I will put the spoiler back on at a later point, (like whenever I sell the car). Don't think the spoiler adds to the sleek look of the car. May check oiut a lip spoiler instead.

I like the TL rims better then the 03' CLS rims. I think the CLS rims look a little "Bight" on our color car. I do like the TSX rims and would probably go with them but I've already put on Konig Holes. I went with the dark color plus a polished rim look. I think it looks great with the Anthracite color.

If it was me, I might stay with the TL rims and save the money for other mods.

Here's the posting for my car with 17" Holes ... If I had to do it over again, I might have when with 18" rims.

Yes, I ordered them from c-c-c.net. Easy mod! BTW, if I had to do it again, I might have checked out the lighter tint ... My backup lights aren't really that effective anymore. I don't really use them that much but with the dark tinted windows, I might as well not even have backup lights ... except to warn people that I'm backup.

I just had mine de-badged. Just left the "A" symbol. Looks sweet!! Was kind of a timing thing, my brother backed into it so it needed 1400 bucks owrth of work, so I just told them to leave that crap off the back when the repaint it. Too much clutter. Mine's anthracite with a six speed too. That was my first choice, ended up finding a brand new one in SEP 03. Congrats.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the CL looks better without the spoiler??? You couldn't pay me to put one on my car, just my 2 cents.

I like the spoiler but I wouldn't have paid for it if my car didn't already have one.
I've de-badged a few cars in the past; I don't know if I would do that to the CL. If that was the only chrome on it, I would definetly de-badge. As it sits, unless I dulled down the rest of the chrome, I wouldn't bother de-badging. If I was in your spot (getting paint work in that area of the car), I would probably do what you did and de-badge most of the car ... maybe just leave the "A". Do you have pics posted?

I guess I'm lucky, to be able to afford it, if that's what you mean.
Don't you drive a CLS also? Sell it, trade it, don't kill, get what you want.

I waited 8 years for Acura to offer a 4 passenger coupe with a manual shifter. The 95 Legend Coupe was the last Acura with this setup before the 03 CLS 6 speed. I had a 95 Legend Coupe but it was an automatic, I couldn't find a 5 or 6 speed Legend Coupe.
