Thumbs up My 2003 CL type S 6spd just rolled 240,000 miles today!

My girlfriend bought this car brand new and recently bought a BMW 550i, so I am now the one driving this beauty. I just recently lowered it using Megan springs, tinted the windows 30% and bought a billet shift knob to replace the old worn out one.

I have done all of the maintenance myself including three timing belt/water pump /tensioner replacements. I recently replaced the passenger side cv axle as I was getting a fierce wobble under heavy acceleration.

Luckily we chose the manual transmission. This little car will see 250k by the end of the year and it is still using the factory clutch even!

Besides having the navigation unit replaced back when it was still under warranty we have had no major problems. (I do think there could have been a better brake rotor design as it seems to warp a pair every year or so.)

All in all, we couldn't be happier with this car.

Just a testament to a well built vehicle!

Thanks!

I am going to start modding it. I will start working on the suspension first. I am pretty much going to replace all the bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, and then I will pick up some coil overs. I also have been doing a little trolling here for information on a BBK setup.

Looks great! You're creeping up to me at 245k with the original clutch as well. Yours appears to be aging much better cosmetically though.. lol

Also, if you're planning to go lower with coilovers, go ahead and save yourself time and money, buy yourself the adjustable camber arms for front and rear. You'll need them anyhow, might as well do it from the start. Ingalls is a good choice. They offer 2 spec options for front, ideally you want the one that does negative camber. I was running at almost 0, but now I'm about -1 and handling is almost better, while clearance was improved. The other spec is +1 - +4 and I recommend not getting that one. Plan to roll rear fenders, possibly relocate rear bumper tabs in wheel well. Make sure tires are perfectly balanced and get an alignment after installs.

Great! Now you could celebrate by adding a 150hp wet shot!

Joking.

In all seriousness, you mentioned something about the vibration under heavy acceleration turning out to be the CV? Hmmm....all this time I've pretty much accepted this symptom as the infamous tranny shutter. I thought it was just WAY too big of a coincidence when I let another "mechanic" install a camber kit (of which turned out to be a FAIL on his part) and damaged my original CV by pulling it out by the outer shaft! Had it not been him owing me a favor for doing some electrical work on his car, I would've done it my-damn-self! Anyhow, um, yeah....I'll check that out tomorrow.

Again, Congrats!

^ Yea, typically the shudder on acceleration is the axle.

Congrats on the mileage! You've finally broken it in.
