MY '03 ACCORD OWNZ JU!! [just got back from dragstrip]

I tried to organise a meet at the great lakes dragway today, but I called them today, and they postponed openning day till next week! I was bummed, and decided to go to byron dragway instead! well I got there and ran a best of 14.7 @ 97mph!!!!!!!!! my car is an '03 accord coupe V6 auto with injen cai! i WAS LUCKY ENOUGH to run a stock mustang 2003 GT(auto)! she ran a 14.3. My average run was a 14.8 @ 96mph. Here's the breakdown of my best run, next to her's:

4.56PM byron dragway, IL

2003 accord coupe v6 auto(intake) STOCK '03mustang gt(auto)
R/T... 1.323 R/T...1.156
60'... 2.355 60'...2.227
330...6.389 330...6.156
1/8...9.637 1/8...9.306
MPH...75.32 MPH...78.41
1000...12.446 1000...12.014
1/4...14.793 1/4...14.308
MPH...97.09 MPH...98.23

I own3d her for like 1/2 the race, (or so I was told by by-standers), but we were dead even for the rest of the race! <--- obvious lie! can't you smell the bullshit?

MY CAR ROCKS

wow!! thats fucking impressive for the auto!!

shit, thats faster than 99% of stock/auto CL-S!! and the CL-S supposedly has 20 more hp and more torque...does the accord weight alot less than a CL-S or something??? how does a 3.0 240 hp coupe beat a 3.2 260 hp coupe with more torque??? must be weight....probably also had alot to do with the cold temps we are getting in the midwest, that helps 1/4 mile times, no doubt.

temps at the track was 34 degrees. my car weighs 3295lbs a cls weights 3500lbs or so, so I think thats the difference! also, we put down 195 hp stock, and I have an injen cai. Here is the dyno from injen for my car:

I think the Accord weighs about 200lbs less then a CLS auto. The rough rule of thumb I've read is that for every 100lbs you pick up a tenth of a second in the 1/4.

the traction sucked! too much wheel spin! I got my best times, by holding the e-brake and doing a little fwd "burn out" with the water, on the track, before racing.

Damn, so if I let my car drive itself down the track and empty my trunk, I'll save at least 300 pounds and can hit the 14's. Hmmmm, gotta figure out a way to remotely drive my car!

rule of thumb is take out air in tires for spinning, put in more air in tires for wheel hopping

in summer temps, i'll b jacking up my pressure to about 50psi in front...last weekend alone i was at 45psi and STILL got a wheel hop or 2

very nice track times

you'd be at 3,500 pounds with the empty trunk.

Numbers don't lie. I looked at the Accord Auto V6 before I bought my CLS and I just didn't think that the Accord felt as fast as the CLS although I liked some of the Accord interior better that the CLS. Stock vs. stock (auto) I think that the CLS is faster but I love seeing the Accord V6 kicking some ass since the CLS is officially dead. Rip it up brotha'!!!

how does a 3.0 240 hp coupe beat a 3.2 260 hp coupe with more torque???
Well the 03 accord has 240/212 stock, but 250/222 with premium gas

so say the accord starts with 250 hp, and the CL-S has 260

but then torqueaholic's car has the intake, which gives 15hp at the dyno, which is almost 20hp at the crank.

so that means his accord is running almost 270 hp!!!

nice job.

a bone stock cl-s will run as quick or quicker in those conditions though.

i would almost guarantee my cl will run 13.99's in 34 degree weather.

great times for a near stock accord sedan

I saw you at Byron....You ran my brother in the red auto Maxima with the body kit. Your car was pretty quick, just needed some traction. It was cold as hell out there.

You should have gotten there earlier, for 1-5 PM my brother got in 20+ runs.

Stock he posted (I am asuming your dyno was a before and after) 193hp at the wheels. I had 202hp at the wheels in my 03'CLS stock.

So the assumption is that Honda is lowballing this car crank and highballing our cranks?

Sounds like there is a new engine to play with?

Note: His was all in SAE..I am not familiar enought to convert my stock STD to SAE...NashuaNH? I say 202 but I might move up OR down depending....

Anyways....your time is sweet.

again.

In low 40s with CAI and NGK Iridium plugs and 18" wheels and nitto, I run 14.6s @96 MPH... so nothing special, it is the weather... If I run in 32F weather I will hit low 14 with same setup.

Try that in the summer with 80F+ and you wil be in 15.3-15.4s.

I guess I'm the only guy who is not impressed by this a high 14-second 1/4-mile run.

Then again, I live in the world of muscle cars, and am impressed when a stock Vette or F-body runs high 12's.

Yeah, ok.

I wasn't bashing on the Accord. It is pretty impressive for what it is. But what I'm saying is, 14-second runs don't get my blood pumping. You know what I mean?

I already do hang out on muscle car forums, along with Eclipse forum, Chevy Truck forum, and a few Acura boards, for each and all cars I have.

Thanks for the invitation to leave. But I'm afraid I'll have to take a raincheck on that one.

yeah I think I remeber that race! 14.8 vs a 14.9 I think, right? Good to see you guys out there! Thanks for the byron tip in my thread, otherwise I would have had to wait for GLD, which sucks tool anyways! next time you guys are doing something at the dragstrip, don't forget to inform us!

yeah, I think the J-series engines love cold weather in general. My mom's TLP ran a 15.3 @ 90.9mph at GLD with 35 degrees.

Yea I think thats right. Why were you always getting your tires wet?? Everytime I saw u run, you went through the burnout box. That was probably the reason you were getting real shitty 60' foot times. Also, how were you launching off the line? Were you flashing the TC?

The guy had intake, exhaust, and a Boost Controller IIRC. I think he had the boost set at 20 psi

Right. I read that and I was wondering the same thing. Unless you have slicks/DR's, you don't go through the waterbox. The tread will pick up water and when you launch, you will lose traction. And there will be some pissed off people after you run, as well.

DR's = waterbox then burn out
street tires = go around the waterbox

yeah I did a lot of experimenting! after I nailed down the best launching technique, and shifting techninque(basically leave it in D3 for best results), I decided to experiment with burn-outs etc, to help bring down my 60'. I saw the integra's doing it, so I did it. monkey see, monkey do

hmmm..... the wet tires must have been causing those high 1/4's and High mph. I would run a 15.0 but at 95.5mph, a 14.8 but at 96.6mph, a 14.7 but at 97.1mph. Hopefully mid-low 14's are hiding in there somewhere. if not then apexi, or comptech exhaust might help they come out of hiding .

its injen, from their website. I e-mailed philip before ordering to make sure those gains were real, and he e-mailed me back saying that it was an average run.
