mph vs rpm

OK i'm sure this has been discussed before but I did a search and couldn't find anything so here goes. I had my tranny replaced, surprise right? But anyway, now I feel as though the rpm's are higher in 5th gear (oh yeah, it's a 2001 CL-S auto) than they were before. So my question is, what are your rpms at say, 70 mph?
Thanks

Thanks Anthracite, unfortunately where I live is all back roads and nowhere can i get to 70 unless i'm on a highway. I did notice that at 40 it seemed a bit high but wasn't sure. I should be out where I can check it tomorrow. Again, thanks for your input.

Did you have the torque converter rebuilt too? Changes to the converter can mean different RPM at speed when the converter is not locked up.

Sorry to thread jack, but i didn't want to start another thread with the same question.

Does anyone know what the rpm should be around 70mph for a 6 speed?

I had a auto back in the day and I felt that the rpms were lower than my 6 speed.

I've been riding with the 6 speed for more than a year now, but I'm just now realizing just how high this thing revs on the highway (guess I'm mostly a city driver).

The car chills at 2k at only like 60mph, so 70mph would be like 2300-2400rpm.

Say cruising around 75mph, the auto is right around 2k while the 6 speed is at roughly 3k.

No way the auto is at 2k at 75mph. Its more like 2k at 68mph.

for the auto 70mph is 2K speedo reads 72. VSS indicates 70 and so does GPS.

I've had both auto and 6 speed and can confirm that a Manual definitely rests at a higher rpm. Not sure how that effects gas mileage between the 2

With my 6 speed since my clutch is going out I have been driving very easy, I average about 20 in the city but I have an intake spacer and headers. Normal driving I am about 18 or 19.. too much fun to drive!
