MP90 supercharger retrofitted to the MP62 Comptech Kit
These are some pics of the MP90 retrofitted to the MP62 parts from comptech. All of it is done I just need to have it tuned with the emanage ultimate with boomslang harness and 440 RC injectors at 9psi. I will be using the stock FPR. I should have some numbers for you guys/gals in December or January. The lower output collector is all that had to be modified with extensive aluminum welding. I figured some of you were probably curious since I have been talking about it. Jim

I will take more later these are just what I had on the computer. I have since had the bypass valve relocated to the other side like on the comptech kit and completed the rest of the kit. I also machined down that lip on the blower where it was touching the EGR valve. there is now about 2-3mm of clearance.

damn Jim, you went through with it huh? Seeing that wrench brings back good times. How come you're contemplating on selling the car (your sig)?
You do the custom welding yourself? I wouldn't be surprised if you did

Great project and good execution so far. You'll have to consider a water intercooler as 9 psi probably will be too much for the motor to handle without some sort of cooling of the air charge. It will detonate! An alternative to this would be methanol injection. Way back when, scalbert made 370whp with the mp62 at about 9psi, you may be able to get that much at a slightly lower psi. He also had the TB enlarged. Very nice!

Very nice work so far. Can't wait to see the numbers.

This is probably true. I am thinking from talks with the engineers at Magnuson that since the RPM will be changing on the blower from ~17,500 at redline with the MP62 to ~12,500rpm with the MP90 the Intake air temps should drop dramaticaly at redline since the air isnt "getting the shit beaten out of it" to make 9psi. I am going to try it at 9Psi and see what happens. If there is detonation I cant eleminate with fuel I will go to 7psi and leave it at that. I have the best tuner in the region doing the work so I am very comfortable it will be done right.

Very cool, glad to see this occuring. I always felt the M90 would have been a better bet with this vehicle.
The blower will certainly be in a more efficient range to where I would suspect about a 50 - 75 F drop in charge temp at nearly 9 PSI. At that point you may get away with just running it a little rich up top.

Scalbert, Long time no see!!! I saw you were back making posts. Thanks for the props. Its great to get input from people like you and ThinJim. I really hope to see a significant drop in the intake temps at the top end. If it gets crazy up there I will look toward an intercooler but we will have to see. Anyone who can do simple math can see I could have already bought a nice turbo system for what I have into this. Its different and no one else has done it yet on this car.

Scalbert, anyone, I know it wont make much of a difference on the FI motor but did you ever P&p your upper intake manifold UIM and port match your lower runners. I have done the UIM but not the Lower runners. I thing there may be some gains for even the FI people with the port match of the lower runners. They look awful from the factory casts.

Good work, But why so much work if u going to sell it. Especially if u going to pay so much to have it donee rght. ( Not like u had free labor or u did all the work ursef <..i.e did not incur any cost other than ur time and effort>) and then decide selling it for a Big profit.
HAve fun with it 4 like 4 yrs then sell it after it u have got tired of it.

I do all the work. I did pay ~350 for some of the fab work I didnt want to do. My car has not seen a wrench outside of alignments that wasnt mine in 4 years. If it is crazy fun and all goes well I will probably hold on to it for a bit, maybe not. These cars are learning tools for me. Exploit one and if it isnt where you really wanted to be, get another and exploit it. Get where you want to be and learn everything you can getting there. Once I do all this work, the car will be maxed out as a luxo street car. I will enjoy it but I have other plans for a Sunday RWD SCCA road course car. The FWD boat just cant cut it out on the track.

I will have to weigh them to see what the weight diff was but it is probably about 15lbs more. The relocation of the bypass was done by Magnuson. There isnt much to it and I wanted to tryi it myself but Magnuson did it for free so I sent it back to them. You also have to use a different bypass on the other side so that had to be exchanged anyway. The big deal was how easy magnuson said it was to damage the bearings and seals the bypass shaft sits on. There was also some special tool necessary to line up the bearings correctly with the change it sides. So, no it wasnt to easy beign that I had to ship it back to them. I will say Magnuson has been a pleasure to work with.
