motor or transmission mount issues?
I went to pick up my car from the dealership with it's newly rebuilt transmission just installed and I was told one of the engine mounts needed to be replaced, then the guy corrceted himself saying it's a transmission mount. $100 part, $50 in labor. I asked the guy if a violently shaking transmission might have put excess stress on the mounts and he said, "No, not at all." I'm thinking that is a less than honest answer, even if it wasn't the actual cause. I have an '01 CLS with the 5AT and 97K on the clock. Does anyone else have any experience with this? And if I wanted to contact Acura Corporate, what is the best way to go about it?

I had the same problem when they changed my transmission for the second time on my 01 CL with 75k miles on it. They changed one engine mount and also the transmission mount and it cost me $360 and the dealer insisted that the transmission had nothing to do with it.

Same here. They replaced the transmission and motor mounts for free. The car had 43K on it, so they did it under the original warranty. However they did tell me that the mounts could have been broken by the transmission downshifting "violently." Did you have an extended warranty?

Noise coming from these mounts???
Do any of you hear any noise at any point because of these mounts failing? I have a bit of a 'rattle' coming in from what sounds hollow, thin metal..which points to exhaust...but nothing in my exhaust is questionable. I do notice that the engine moves quite a bit and the movement is allowed by the mount on the front of the engine right next to the brake system box.
Any thoughts?

Motor / Tran mounts have a high failure rate on the CL's. Acura replaced all my mounts at 40K plus miles. I noticed my car was pulling to the right when the brakes were applied, so naturally, I thought I had a brake problem. As it turned out, it was the motor dropping when the brakes were applied which caused a weight shift. Dealer told me the cost, and I told them to contact Acura which they did. Repair of all mounts cost me zero. Tranny failed shortly after the mount repairs.

Front motor mount
It is quite common for the front motor mount to go bad...it is liquid filled..(believe it or not) If they just put a trans in it..the whole front subframe has to drop...why charge to install when it's right there..I would never charge for this where I work!! At least not for labor..
