More Newbie ?????????

OK bear with me

What is this air bypass valve people keep mentioning?
Whose mufflers are best in the 500-600 price range (or less)
Are comptech decent lowering springs?
Where should I buy this stuff?

Thanks
David

comptech springs are THE lowering springs of choice..they offer nice looking drop, no need for camber kit, and can be used with factory shocks....very very good investment...the air bypass valve is a valve that you buy to go along with a CAI, it is installed by cutting the CAI in the instructed location and installing it on the sawed ends, this air bypass valve prevents water from being injested into the motor, hense it is a safe thing to have on your car as a motor replacement would cost you thousands of dollars if your CAI sucks water in through the throttle body...you can buy the springs from a guy on this message board named DEAN, his thread in the BLACK MARKET section titled "comptech at special pricing" is the cheapest place to get the springs, the CAI can be purchased from www.autocarparts.com or other retailers. The bypass valve is an additional 30-45 bucks and is made by AEM but can be used with the INJEN intake...both intakes perform equally and just offer different appearances.

exhaust for the CL-S does literally nothing as far as performance...maybe 2-3 hp and they are expensive...typically 500 or more.....i dont have much other information on exhausts as it is something i would never be interested in for my CL-S...just do the smart thing and get the headers....

exhaust is for different sound and looks. Consensus worthless performance mod. And Comptech's ain't cheap.
Do a SEARCH with the key words and you will get more info than you need to make an informed decision. Worked like a charm for me.

1. Air bypass valve - it's a a device (i guess that's what you can call it) that goes in the middle (more or less) of the CAI that is to prevent hydrolock...which is what happens when your engine sucks in water...bad bad thing to have happen.

2. Muffers - Comptechs are somewhat small, but bigger than stock. The sounds is truly beautifully, but the cans (muffler) is somewhat nonexistant. HKS Super Dragers have a more raw and deep sound than the Comptechs and is cheaper. Larger than the Comptechs and makes the CL look more agressive, but might be too big for some people's taste.

3. Comptech springs - Nice springs if you plan on switching out your stock shocks and keeping the same profile tires. The gap is decent on stock rims and tires, but once you go aftermarket tires and lower your profile to a 45, the gap becomes annoying. The Comptech springs offer the closes ride to stocks being not too stiff compared to Eibach or H&R. I would recommend the Tein Coilovers (getting mine Aug 18 ) instead. That way if you get aftermarket rims and/or aftermarket tires, you can adjust the gap. Plus there is 16 different adjustment levels and different ride quality from luxury to stiff sport racing ride depending on how you feel. Granted they are more pricey, but the price you are spending on the Comptechs and Koni adjustable shocks will come pretty much to this price. There is a group buy in effect right now http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=75251 . I would recommend you buy the Comptech springs used, because it would be a waste to buy them new and part with them at a reduced price later.

4. Where to buy - Basically keep checking back in the Black Market section for people who are selling stuff. If your patient, you'll get great prices on stuff. I would look through the archives for websites that people have purchased their stuff from.
