Modded WRX

Well, tonight I was getting onto 395 and I see this modded WRX infront of me. Only visible mods was the exhaust and it was lowered..it sounded mean though...anyway, the guy looks at me and my cousin in the passenger seat and he signaled something to my cuz...so i moved over a lane (highway was pretty empty at the time) and i stayed near to him..for about a half a mile we were just basically heating it up...finally we line up evenly, and we gun it, I instantly started pulling on him. I'd pull about a car length, then we'd shut down. So he rolls his window down, and starts talking to me on the highway while we're traveling like 60mph, lmao crazy ass guy...he yelled over "that thing is fast!!!" so im just like "thanks man, your cars nice!" ... so we went our seperate ways and gave each other a thumbs up...

and my friend with his damn tl-s with just an intake can still keep up with me...i seriously don't get it...i beat g35's but this nearly stock tl-s stays next to me...

i've pulled on a WRX w/ Cobb tuned CPU, greddy up pipe/down pipe/cat-back, and a few other mods. After that night, he bought a STI JDM turbo so I can't hang anymore (until I get a supercharger, that is)

If your buddy gets an STI JDM Turbo, even if you do get a supercharger, the race will be over before you even get the supercharger going. Our cars have limits, but atleast you arent driving a platform 18K WRX like the STI guy is.

I would rather have my car built off of an automobile that has won best car in its class for under 30K, than off of a lancer body or WRX.

i had an wrx with pulley...stage 1 ecu...header...up and down...full sti exhaust...my cls auto has injen cai and it feels almost the same...the cls is definitly smoother on the power... maybe im getting old but i really like the way the cls power comes on with the v tech.. the power on my wrx was a little to violent for my taste...

So my friend has is almost done with his WRX he upgraded bigger turbo then stock STI?? He also has headers almost a complete exhaust then thats about it would I stand a chance?? So far my engine mods are injen CAI, and thermoblock spacers?? I heard his engine so it sounds pretty aggressive.

If he's gettin a bigger turbo and thats it you have a really good chance. But normally when wrx guy's get bigger turbo's you also get bigger injectors bigger fuel pump and you would want to have a shop tune it properly on the all wheel dyno with a proper ecu like cobb or vinshu...If he does that you don't stand a chance with your mods....IMHO

imo i don't think so...if i had to guess i would say a pulley is good for what maybe 5 wheel horse...i could be wrong...remember he has about 300lbs less mass than you with more hp. and all wheel drive..

i assume your talking wheel power? and tq would be about the same as horsepower or more. with those mods he was at least runing a cobb stage 2 tune which on average is about 215/220 to the wheels. (02-05 wrx)

to orginal poster

he was dumb to mess with you on a highway on a roll thats for sure, but dont shrug him off so fast from a light. still you never know whats under that hood. its always a surprise. same with the damn srt-4s, evos, and freaking cobalts. ugh

thats why I run stock mufflers on the lgt. seriously for 10-12 hp f#$# the noise and attention. no one is wise to what they cant see or hear until after the turbo spools

but you do know when he got home he went on his wrx board, whichever one allows street racing stories, and told everyone how he smoked a cl-s with a turbo yo!!!!! and how you gave him mad props

ahhahaha

your friend that had to do fuel upgrades in his wrx must have put in a decent turbo capable of at least 280/280 wheel power so you should stand no chance from a dig or roll until triple digits when you would eventually reel him in. save your gas and pride for now or only race from a roll at 100mph.

and good call with a black cl

peace
