mod or trade up...opinions?

so I was going to do rims and suspension at some point in the near future...and headers after that...

but now I am thinking that I could probably throw down that same cash at the dealer and swap my car out for an 03 6 speed maybe with navi...

I have an 01 cls now...

Should I do it?

I think its worth it for the 6 speed....

dont know though. would a dealer let me do that?

I would mod the shit out of it but thats me. I would never consider trading my car for the same thing but newer (i would go from first gen to second gen though). An 01Cl-S for an 03Cl-S 6spd seems like a waste.

Chances are you won't find a new 6 speed. I traded my auto for the 6 speed. I didn't want tranny problems was my reason. I had several cars that had them in the past & I was left stranded. Any new car in any class should not have those kinds of problems.

I don't care about the car being newer... I just want a 6 speed.

True though, I would probably get raped pretty bad.

Plus I would have to strip out my stereo and alarm and all that shit...thats a bitch too.

Probably be better to hold off for a year and trade up for an 05 something very fast and RWD/AWD

nicky, 17k for a 2001 CL-S is nowhere near anal rape on trade in. the car is 4 years old, low mileage or not, 17k is all good. i got 19.5k for my 2002 over a year ago with 11,000 miles, 17k you should jump on it.

if I got 17k for my 01...I would have to pay like 7k to get an 03 6 speed...

and the only difference would be the tranny...

yeah I think I'll pass on that.

personally, I wouldn't do it. I like the sti, evo, and the new r32. I had an 01 clp and it got totalled and i now have an 03 6 speed. It is a totally different car than the clp. Oh and you forgot about the limited slip differential. Thats gotta be like a grand or something. I got my 6 speed for 27,000 which is less than i paid for the 01 clp. I also just noticed at my local dealer they have a new san marino red 6 speed. I took a look, and really like the red color on the 03 cls. I was really surprised to see this. Its got navi too. they had it listed at 29,000.

29...god damn. I wouldn't pay that much for a cl.

and I have a cls now...so to go from my 01 cls to an 03 cls...only difference would be the manual transmission...and then other stuff that doesn't matter like taillights and headlights.

I would do it if it was like 2k...but not 7,8, or more

Trade up to a 6 speed!!! I had an '01 CLS and traded it in for a 6 speed a year ago last January. I liked my '01 CLS, but I love the 6 speed. I have to warn you though, it will beg you for mods. My 6 speed has managed to talk me into installing CT SC/headers/b-pipe/exhaust/strutbar and konis. It's still begging me for the CT fly/clutch upgrade and better breaks.

I’m VERY happy that I did the SLUSH-BOX to 6-Speed trade.
Coming up on 2-years with each car so my experience is well balanced.
I’d also rather have a STOCK 6-Speed over a modified Auto.
Well, maybe an Auto with the Supercharger, but that’s lots of $$$$.

Plus I traded before the CL-S values went to SHIT.
I got 24,000+ nearly 1500 in PA tax savings when I traded in my 2001 CL-S with about 22,000 miles.
So my BUTT didn’t hurt too awful bad as someone doing it now.

Matt, your going to get boned either way.but 7k worth of mods
would be pretty cool. I'm pretty much married to mine. since
it's paid for and not worth enough to trade up. I can justify mods a little easier. Good thing I still like the car. black chrome!!! get it line for nicky's wheels
