im thinking of this...i live in florida..9 months of the year its 90* and near 100% humidity...tell me if im wrong on my thinking the 0 is how fast it would start to flow and or its low temerature property and the 40 is it's high temp protection(thickness) #...sounds like the right choice to me

I would say 10W30 is more appropriate for Florida weather.

The numbers indicate how it adapts to the temp. 0W40 covers everything (except maybe 130 with little air flow).. YMMV

Do a search on it. It'll flow like a 0 weight oil when cold, and a 40 weight oil when hot. Don't get temperature confused in there (some weights align with a temp scale, but that's coincidence).

You don't want 0W40 oil in Florida. That shit's runny when cold (AKA poor lubrication). You generatally only toss in 0W oil when the mercury is major below zero (aka -30 -> -40 F). Since it does get near freezing sometimes in Florida, I'd stick with 10W30.

Here's a note though: They start with an oil (for example 10W) and add modifiers to make it change to 30W when hot (10W30). The farther the spread, the more the modifiers have to work to maintain the oil (and breaks down faster). So, 0W40 has a 40 weight spread, and 10W30 has a 20 weight spread (works 1/2 as hard).
