was in the car with my g/f coming back home from the hospital seeing my friends back they just had 2 days ago.

the service road was empty so i decded it would be fun to redline a few gears

i redline 3rd, went to go into 4th and some reason i went into 2nd

the tach went to where 10,000 rpms would be.

scared the living shit out of both of us

had my dad take the car to his shop this morning(he's a mechanic) and luckily there is not a thing wrong with the car

The over-rev is probably still stored in the computer, unless your dad reset it.

Kinda sucks, but had you gone from 5th into 2nd after redlining 5th you'd not have a car right now.

redlining 5th would be 140 if not more

redlining 2nd is 60, the engine and tranny would be toast

i'm just surprised i didn't get a check engine light or float a valve last night

I've misshifted from 5th back down to 4th and that was hair raising. I was no where near redline but still scary on a highway. Can't imagine a red line 3rd into 2nd =

This is usually how people the bent valves in their motors.. and is one of the few things the rev limitor won't save you from.. I did this exact thing myself in my NA B16, #2 lost all compression.

Since your car is still driveable, you are lucky. But I recommend you get a compression check on all cyclender just to make sure.

4th is 120, 5th is 140....and I have redlined all these gears to find out, and never had a problem, but I am sure the engine will die before I have it paid off.

amazingly i did it after 3 tries, i was alone in the car and there were no cars in front or behind me, so if something happened no one could get hurt

4th was 125 in my 95 Civic dx and 5th was slower than that

I misshifted once in my VW GTI like 5 years ago. that thing got so loud, but was a tough car. Until it got totaled after only 8 months of buying it brand new. That was definitely more fun to drive than the auto CLS. I miss the manual.

in my civic 4th was almost 120 and 5 was 144, thats when the redline was 8000


didn't take much to get to that speed, just the garden state parkway
