Mileage Junker

ok so I want to keep the mileage off the ol type-s. I took a hit on my last car because I put over 20k miles in one year.

I'm thinking about shelling out the $2500 for a CRX HF (stands for "Half Finished" to crank out my weekday mileage. It gets over 50 mpg. I figure if I put half the mileage on that and half on the cl, in three years (10k miles x 3years x .15 per mile=$4500 savings in CL depreciation) it will more than paid for itself.

Anyone have any good suggestions for cheap, reliable junkers?

Good point... the gas is cheaper (> 50mpg) and the insurance would be only $150 a year more. The repairs... well... it's a Honda.

I guess it comes down to whether or not it's worth an extra $1500/year (at 20k+ miles) in depreciation to ride in luxury.

Reminds me of a conversation my dad had with his brother bout 15 years ago regarding his Buick Park Avenue

Dad: You know, I really love this car.

Steve: <pause> <nonchalantly> You must.

I personally think its stupid..
The reason u buy the car is to drive it?
What are u gonna make the Acura like a sunday cruzer? Well my dad got a sunday cruzer but its a 65 vette big block.
First year they made big block i think its a 396 or 397??Hmm well besides that I would never drive a CRX unless its to take to Harlem to get Dro now that i drive a CL-S.
So unless the "dirty work" u refer to getting dro in Washington hights or Harlem then its a bad idea!

Definitely get the CRX. Don't put TONS of miles on your Type S, and don't listen to the post above this one.

A CRX will get excellent mileage, and you won't have to be concerned about getting a shitty resale value out of the Type S.

I think it's a good idea. I got jammed, TWICE, when selling my cars because of high mileage. I learned on this one. I have an old MX6 to drive so I save miles on my GS400. I still drive the GS much more, but if it rains/snows or I'm going to a 'bad' area, I take the MX6. That alone is worth the price.

That totally makes sense. Once a week I drive through a dirt road, and it's murder on the car.

I agree with the comments above- you do buy a car to drive it; but at what point is excess mileage considered abuse and not driving?
