Mercedes CL600 V12 *vs* CLS

at the light ready to turn right. Silver CL600 next to me. So tightly low and huge ass wheels. Well, saw the entire side of the car - V12 in the back/side.

Green light, we both turn right with me on the left lane and CL600 on the right. We end up on a long straightaway at the next red light. No cars behind or in front. Clear traffic.

I switch lanes and I'm on the right now with him on the left. I look over and see an old guy that looks like Peter Norton. I dunno...and didn't give a shit. Green light and I depress pedal 1/2 way to gun ahead...then I noticed that old mofo to my left GUNS IT! He's up by 1/2 car length..and so I had to WOT...

Fuckin' took the car in SS mode from 1-2 then to 3rd before he had to turn left at the 3rd traffic light.

I think he was about 1/2 - 1 car lengths ahead..but since it was a short distance, I got raped big time. For a car that big and heavy, DAYAM...it really hauls ass. Later on, I saw that CL600 again but this time we were opposite each other facing towards one another. He smiled...and I waved....

What a beat down.

i saw a race similar to that about 4 months ago. It was route 30 east. Anyway, a red CLS and black SL V12.....it was a four door. They were trying to go for abotu 2 lights before they got clear traffic. The CLS was with the mercedes for a while and then all of a sudden the mercedes pulled ahead. I was in my old nissan stanza so there wasn't anyway i could've tailed them so I don't know if the CLS slowed down because fear of cops ahead or if the benz just hit it's power curve. Anyway, it was a cool race nonetheless.

that's not too bad. With headers and CAI we could edge(depending on the weight of the drivers, fuel, extra weight i the trunk etc.,) it out.....i'd have to see the gearing.

You think we could edge that car out (I doubt it..V12 monster)?

I'd just like to know what ~400lb*ft of torque feels like

It would be REALLY close, only because the car weighs so much. That's nearly 1000lbs heavier. It does have alot of power but alot of weight to pull.

CL 600 would own alot of cars even from a standstill and from a roll they are very very fast.
Stock CL600 vs stock or even lightly modded CL-S , CL600 would have the edge.
ONly bad thing is, you would rarely get a CL600 to the track to confirm the numbers.
Would be nice to see the 1/4 mile splits from that car, time to distance is a good tool of performance instead of 0-60mph. A car that runs 0-60mph in 5.8 may not be ahead of a car that ran 5.9.
But by using the splits like the 330' or 1/8 the times dont lie!

You said the V12 badge was on the back? I could be wrong but aren't those on the front side? Anyways a 600 Benz would destroy a CL-S easily as he did!

Agreed...

MPH in the 1/4 is the best indicator, especially if you are racing/comparing cars from a roll. For the most part, that takes "the driver" out of the equation, unlike 0-60...

Nah, I saw the emblem on the back/side (rear 1/4 side panel).

It has that "let's kick in the other set of 6 cylinders" when the car senses that it needs it. It's such a cool car. That car is major pimp. When it beat me by 1/2-1 car lengths, I'm like, whoa...never seen a CL600 and never seen one race. That old guy must of thought "punk ass kid...lemme show you what a V12 engine is like".

I just cannot imagine the torque on that car...near ~400lb*ft!

Shit...

I dont know what 400 ftlbs of torque feels like but i know what 550 ft lbs of torque feels like hehehe. It is badass. There is no doubt that the 600 could beat us.

600 on what?

Note: not a call-out or anything, just curious. I've never driven a car with that much torque. My tops to ever drive is a 460hp/400# blown Cobra.

the cl 600, but if you are talking about the torque, it was actually on a ford f-250, with an aftermarket ecu chip, turbo-diesal v8, and an open element intake
