Thanks bro.

The only downside is the handling department 0.85g vs. 0.89g with the Z.

I was in the market for another coupe that would out perform the cl-s...which were a couple of cars; 350Z, G35, M3, clk430 and clk500.

my price cap was around $45K which left the clk500 out and when comparing the japanese to the Germans....let me just say they didnt compare.

left me with two choices M3 and clk430 and test drove both at least twice....I found the clk430 was exactly was I was looking for a quick, agile, coupe, looks good, upgrade from the cl-s, and not too sporty like the M3.

look around but not too many companies are making coupes which made the clk430 almost a no brainer.

How can the CLK 430 with a V8 and backseats weigh less than your mighty Z. Also I feel that German metal is heavier than the NIssan metal which feels very light.

yes the Z claims 0-60 in 5.4 seconds but according to Edmunds its 6.0 with manual tranny. plus they claim it 1/4 at 14.6 which is

Lou... We went over this before. The CLK430 DOES NOT weigh more than the Z.... Here are the curb weights:

Curb Weights:
350z: 3197
CLK430: 3365

And in regards to Edmunds, those figures are crap. Bad driver or slow car. Almost every magazine had times in the 5.4-5.7 range. Look at the times people have been running at the track - 13.8-14.2 - Consistent with mid 5's 0-60.

I'm not trying to say the Z is the best car or anything like that by any means. I'd take the CLK500 I raced any day over my Z. I just have to respond when I see inaccurage info.

so which is it DOES or DOES NOT ??

this is exactly my point the clk is a car and the Z is a skateboard any car that light is very susceptible to losing control at high speed since the air underneath would lift the wheel off the road causing a major catastrophe. The CLK in the other hand would hold control and maintain its composure even at high speeds and thats what you pay for

My Z has the Aero kit... Here are the specs of the aero kit:
Front Air Dam, Rear Spoiler and Rear Diffuser which produces ZERO lift at speed. It has a Cd of 0.29. The Z is rock stable at triple digit speeds. People have gone 156mph and said it's stable at that speed.

Zero lift is very difficult to achieve. The Z definitely won't lose control at speed

thats exactly my point the Z gives you the presumption that you are indeed in control but statistics have shown that any car traveling at that speed will still be vunerable for a sudden disturbance. The CLK does not give you that false presumption instead it forwarns you that there is a possibilty that traveling at excessive speed is dangerous....that is why the Benz is classified a safer car....it is in tune with the drivers safety and will not falter.

Lou, comments like this make me think you don't deserve to be driving such a fine automobile. seriously. get off the high horse, do some searching with google and get your facts straight. what you said makes no sense.

Curb Weights:

-------------------

168 lb difference. so by Lou's logic, if I had a 168 lb passenger while going 'super fast' I would be as stable in my Z as Lou is in his CLK. Well shit I can't argue that logic.

no what I said is the heavier your car the closer we will be in a race so no matter how you slice it the clk has every advantage.

and is 3197lbs. with the optional air conditioning or is that bone stock with no radio

dont blame me cause you hate driving your Z long distances and try to use an excuse for driving the Volvo. Admit it the Volvo is more comfortable and drives nicer in the Hwy and that is why you want to drive it long distance. Dont worry nobody is gonna hold it against ya

a random 4 out of 10 sampling of modern benzos i see near downtown LA have tailight wiring problems, one light is brighter, one is dimmer.

lets not forget this:
German drivers rank Mercedes and VW among 3 worst brands in customer satisfaction

German drivers happiest driving Japanese cars
