Do you have an owners manual? Have you ever taken the door panel off? I would say it probably does have something to do with replacing the battery. Have you simply tried resetting it?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow it down.

I believe I remember the owner's manual saying that the EMERGENCY BRAKE must be on for the "memory" positioning to take place when the car is unlocked by the remote. That is, if the emergency brake is on, everything should return to the preset positions selected by the owner with remote #1 or, in the alternative case, the owner with remote #2 (there being two sets of presets).

Not true if you're talking about the AT. I wouldn't know about the 6spd. All I know is that I rarely use the parking brake and my settings always return when I unlock with the remote. Also, the car only needs to be in park for me to hit mem. 1 or mem. 2 and it moves without the parking brake on.

Mine sucks. It only work if I really gently push the seat back. Try that. Pull the side handle to get the seat to move forward, and as soon as it starts moving, gently push it back til it clicks into position. That's the only way mine works.

In the 6mt, if it's parked and in reverse, the memory won't work.

If you took the battery out, then you need to reset the memory seats. The light isn't on because nothing is set.

In the 6MT the hand brake has to be set to have the auto memory settings work.
I set my seat to move back when I open the door to save on wearing out the leather bolsters.

My manual clarifies on page 84 that in the case of Type-S's with M/T: "The Driving Position Memory System will not activate if you left the transmission in Reverse OR did not set the parking brake."

To make things ambiguous, on page 101 it states: "You can select memorized positions as follows:

"1. Make sure THE PARKING BRAKE IS SET and the shift lever is in Park (A/T) or a forward gear (M/T)."...

Therefore, Honda WANTS the parking brake on in all cases, but (as Lord Helmet points out) they may not have locked out "Memory" positioning in the case of auto transmissions like they stated they did on page 84 in the case of manual transmissions.

There's your answer. You should've had to put in the radio code too if you don't already have an aftermarket one.

That makes more sense.

The manual provides details for toggling "driving position memory activation" on and off on page 84 (for anyone that lost this feature by inadvertently toggling it off). Page 101 verifies, as has been stated above, that power loss causes stored driving positions to be lost.

Also anyone who doesn't know this......

In a 6mt you don't have to have the parking brake on. If you hold the memory button in it will change to that preset. Works in all gears, & N.

That's pretty interesting. I wonder if it does that on the AT's too. It would be nice because I tend to move the seat back when I'm on long highway cruises.

How do you do that? (I think I already know). I hate how slow it moves.

Ok, here's what I do (and what Chapitorial does, and probably what 123456 does)...

I set the seat back farther then how I drive, with memory postion #1. When I unlock the car (with remote #1 and with the parking brake set), the seat automatically moves back to position #1. I get in with room to spare, so the seat bolster doesn't wear as fast. I've got position #2 setup for my usual driving position, so then I hit the #2 button, the seat moves up, and I'm ready to drive...

I'm the only one that drives my car, so I use both seat memory postitions for myself. If you've got another driver in the house, and already use both memoriy positions, this won't work for you

Damn, I never realized the seats moved according to which remote you used. I love finding new features.

that's why there are 2 remotes and 2 settings...

If you have a short wife, she can have one setting and the other one is for you...

My Legend was better at this, it would also memorize the electronic steering wheel settings (telescope and up & down) too, and when you shut off the car it would swing up and out of the way, like some Lexus' do. (Yes, you could turn the auto steering wheel off).

That's pretty slick. I'm going to do that. But my memory escapes me on how to program the seats. I seem to have mis-placed my owner's manual. Someone wanna give me a quick jist on how to redo the seats? Mine's an AT

Ryan... stop being such a noob

Just move the seat where you want it, and hit the Red memory set button and then hit the black button (with the numbers on 'em) that you want to program and hold it till it beeps...
