me vs. magnum RT

2005 magnum RT, 340hp + CAI, Borla cat back and 22's

VS.

see signature. these runs were on snow tires though, no nitrous

this is my buddies RT. i've raced him 3 times now, twice from a dig and once from a roll.

race 1 - on the freeway, 80 roll. i had a passenger and a 1/2 tank of gas, he was by himself, 1/4 tank. he hits it a half second before i do and pulls 2-3 cars by 105.

race 2 - we catch a light. both get a decent launch, side by side to 70 or so and then you can tell he starts to pull away slightly. by 100 mph he would have a car, car and a half. you can guess what would happen over 110.

race 3 - this was a week later. from a dig. he has a passenger, i'm by myself. we run from 0-70 or so, same result, neck and neck. i might have pulled a half a fender on him in 2nd, but he said he was having traction problems. it was wet outside.

i gate shifted both runs from a dig and ss from the roll

Wow, even with all those mods you had trouble hangning with him 100mph+. Good runs regardless!

I only say that because Im 100% stock so I'd have no chance at all...

Send him over to me, I will eat his lunch coming and going. Sex speed and SC with headers. I still think that without the charger a 6spd will take it.

i would eat his lunch coming and going on the bottle, the same way i would against you and your S/C.

and you think a 6mt w/ headers is faster than my car?

you guys act like these magnums are slow. yeah, it's only a 340hp hemi v8 w/ intake and exhaust.

These things are faster than I thought. I figured that they were too heavy to run.

How big of a shot are you running? I know you didn't run nitrous on these races, but I'm just curious because you knocked off nearly a second off your 1/4-mile time.

nice try mattg! I raced one the other day on the hwy from 80-110 and took him by about 1.5-2 cars. However he was stock I'm assuming. If you ran the nitrous, you'd blow his fucking doors off

considering they trap ~ 99mph stock, you must have got a nice jump on him to pull like that.

we both took off at the same time...it was 56 out that night, humidity was low? Perhaps that helped.

we went at it again 2 nights ago, but this time from a 50 roll

i pulled 1.5 cars on him from 50-75 but then he starts to reel me in. i'm sure by 100 he would have been right even w/ me again and pulling away. that car has alot of top end.

as soon as it dries out we're gonna put his stock tires on and take it to the strip. then we'll see what the deal is.

now is this the Hemi version?

A week ago a Hemi R/T decided he wanted to me and fortunately I was on to him . . . I saw him jump and I was already in low gear around 30MPH (gateshifting) . . . we were even . . . untill I hit the rev limiter (comes up too quick from a 30 punch) he gained about 1/4 - 1/2 of a car on me before I got above 5500 in 2nd and I barely pulled him 1/4 car length by 90, but then I could see him starting to gain on me . . . and with traffic ahead I shut it down before he couldn pass me.

That was my 3rd kill on 4 days . . . the other 2 were a G35 and a 745il . . . all very close runs

I heard they were fast.

My dad works for Chysler and always brags about the new engines they have lined up for the new cars.

He's gonna buy a 300C when the 6.1 liter Hemi comes in them.

Nice runs though Matt

I can't believe some guys here think they can take out the Hemi Magnums w/out a power adder.....Matt's car must be slow. Unless the TLS/CLS has a blower or n2o, I don't see it coming close. Yes it's about 300-350lbs more, but it's got 80hp advantage stock.

Ah, another inexperience noob . . . thinks all you need to have is more power and you automatically win . . . I guess we can eliminate all sorts of motor sports events and just compare trade rag stories or dyno charts

Dude, I'm not quite as old as you but I've had plenty of driving and racing experience and I'm quite far from a noob. It's not "all" about who has more power, when you're talking about the difference between 2 cars w/ relatively close power output (10-30)......once you're in the neighborhood of 100.... (it takes a few miss shifts and serious tire spin to waste an almost 8-10 car length difference).....it pretty much is, unless the car is a total lead brick and the driver doesn't have a clue. Maybe the driver didn't know it was a race or spilled coffee in his lap on takeoff.

I agree, but more so is torque......which the Acuras lack in a big way.

Chill . . dude . . you won't get rolleyes back at if you give others more respect . . . hense my reponse to you . . .

I hear all the time . . . BS or no way or some other response to some race . . . granted there are some that are questionable, but many are likely legit . . . based on my first hand experience . . . I've been racing since I was 16yrs old and know a lot about street racing vs strip vs what trade rags or some MFG claims are.

I went thru this sort of back and forth pissing contest with a guy that swore I couldn't be a GS400 or a E36 M3 . . . I've proven the GS400 based on my track times vs a SC430 which I beat by more than 2 cars lengths . . .

In this case there is no reason why Mattg couldn't of beaten the Magnum . . . I have and he has more mods than I do . . .

So peace, and we'll have fun, but if you slam someone first don't be surprised if you get ripped back.

Agree, but there's more than HP and TQ to determining who will win . . . tires, suspension, weight, tranny, gearing, overall powerband, mods that help vs one that hurt . . . weather as some are effected by it more than others . . why do you think even among the exact same model you can have a much as a full second variance?

So yes, while on paper the Mangnum has more power and has been tested as being faster . . . but just barely . . . .5 secs in too close to guarantee a race . . . somethings I've proven even on a controlled drag strip.

Hey, I'd be I liar if I said I never got my panties in a wad . . .

And trust me, there are some that I'm skeptical about, but usually don't even respond to some of them . . . besides, as the forum notes, this is an Acura forum and big fish stories will abound. :troutslap

i've gotten pretty good at driving my car in the last 4 years, and i've raced him multiple times now. so i don't really know what else i could do to beat him any more than i have.

so either A. there is something wrong w/ my car, B. the I/E for the magnum makes alot of power, or C. your car is faster than mine ( )

what i can tell you is this guy is my friend, and when we have raced we have both been ready and intent on racing. as in we both knew we were racing, and hit it at the same time.

bottom line. nobody has a faster n/a J32 auto than i do. if someone thinks they do, feel free to prove me wrong.

I didn't see where the RT had I/E, so I'd admit you'd have your hands full with it then, but in two out of the 3 runs you were respectable and held on to 100 before getting passed.

So you got to do something else or I'm going to beat your times . . .

In my race, the RT was more than likely stock. And as in your case I was holding him off until the top end and I could see him closing . . . it was only a matter of secs before he would have passed me, but he didn't. Just like in a strip race, doesn't matter how fast the other car is closing on you . . the first one through the traps wins . . . no for "I would have passed you".

Also, I'm betting your friend is a better driver than most . . the guy I raced may not have downshifted or whatever else he might have been able to do to push it harder . . . or he could have been in the lower part of the powerband and I was at the top of mine . . too many variables here, so if the don't push their cars I'll get 'em most of the time.

Wait . . . what am I saying . . . making excusses for the other guy face it we'll never know who's better unless you come down to the Big Meet the SacTown and Dallas guys are working on . . . . .

13.99x is the standard we seek with a N/A motor . . .

You'd better . . . I'm in the 14.5s now and have a few more mods left to install . . . ThermoBloc soon and UR pullies possibly, so I hope to be pushing 14.2s with both of them . . , oh and some more tweeking of my MMIII (mystery mod) may help as well . . . and still without headers . . . although I hope to get some this year . . . used CTs as I'm not sure the others are really quite as good.
