Me vs. 93 vs. 328i

Ok Saabman you got your wish....

This morning on the Garden State Parkway I had this beautiful Silver 328i with aftermarket rims, looked like chrome they were SHINY. He was zipping through traffic until he got behind me. I pulled left and let him come up aside me. He did the typical "If I don't look, you are not there" so I throttled around 40mph and my mufflers vibrated against his car and he looked over. His lane was backing up so he cut in behind me and we paced each other until we reached a break in traffic. As soon as we had the road to ourselves he pulled out from behind me and "attempted" to do what he thought would be a successful pass NOT! As soon as he left my rearview I went SS to 2nd gear, 3rd SEE YA! We went through this ritual 4 more times before he decided to stop trying, that was fun

THEN, while on 78 a 2001 93, yes, a 93 tried to pass me. Well, first thing I did was check to see if it was my buddy Saabman4ever but NO, it was some punk with ugly after market fog lights installed. He whipped around all cool turbo whistling away, he actually had some good balls but as soon as I hit 5000rpm's in 3rd I started pulling REALLY HARD on him, he was 2 car lengths behind me at 90mph.

Just wanted to share my ultra-fun drive to work!

Those races are the best cause they keep tryin and you keep shutin them down! I did the same to a 3000GT NOT the bad ass one though. You let them just get your rear bumper then pull away. It keeps it interesting. Nice one!

Did you cause that accident on Rt 22 this morning? You probably did, you maniac! Both cars probably had auto. tranny's. I can't speak for the 328i, but I know from first hand knowledge that a SAAB auto has trouble pulling past a Kia. 5 spd manual? Different story. The guy just couldn't harness the power around him. Too bad you're always heading South bound while I'm heading North on the GSP. We'll have to hook up for a friendly drive.

BTW, what's the deal with the season pass?

That wasn't a fair race with the 328i. Those things have a I6 engine producing 193bph @ 5000 rpm. Your car is at 260bhp. But if that guy "attempted" to fly by you, I would say you had all the right in the world to kick his ass (nice job doing it too, put him in his place).

That was stupid, on his part. Nice story.

But it is lighter and has a higher torque per lb ratio than the CL-S. Not to mention that if a manual is run the parasitic losses are much less percentage wise.

I know all too well that the 328i will get pulled on by a CL-S. But stock for stock setup the actual numbers end up being closer than the 260 vs. 193 numbers represent.

The CL-S generally has a 22% drivetrain loss, a manual 328i has been tested and determined that it experiences only a 13% loss. Factor in the weight difference, about 3500 for the CL-S and about 3150 for the 328i and the actual lb/hp when applied at the wheels give the CL-S a 1.5 lb/whp difference.

We need more people like you to say this kinda stuff. If not for you, I would have just went on thinking "Don't waste your gas on a 328i".

Thanks!
