MDX spacer and short ram intake combo thoughts.

So I had some free time yesterday and finaly got around to installing a MDX spacer with the p2r thermal gasket on my stock cl. I reset the ecu and took her for a spin and it did put some pep in its step, however it felt like it was choking in the higher rpms. So I decided to swap out the stock intake system with an short ram setup on eBay and now the car feels a lot better when I'm getting on it. What I've noticed during city driving is the transmission shifts at a lower rpm and still carries the car through traffic easily. It used to rev to about 2,300-2,200 before modifications and now shifts at about 1,900-2,000. And coming from a dead stop is also a lot easier than before, almost like it wants to go forward lol. Has anyone else had such good results from either of the two mods? I tried searching the forum but couldn't find much.

i would say go with a cold air intake. but aside from that i am glad you like the results. short rams are actually worse at high end than cold air. imho because the tubing length is longer is creates more stable air going into the engine. either way tho. more power too you.. and yes that was a pun ;-)

keep the mods going. it just gets faster and faster

i could feel most of the mods i have done so.. geter done

I have something else planned for as well, maybe even diy worthy. I have some buttons(electronic) put the side and I planned on mounting them in my steering wheel cover in the 9 and 12 o'clock position. There will be 2 total and im going to attempt to wire them up to the sports shifter, I'm automatic. Kinda like makeshift paddle shifters, also my intake is a 2 piece CAI, I was just too lazy to run the piping into the bumper :P.

Ment to say 10 o'clock, not 12.

I would be worried about something going wrong and it messing up the tiptronic altogether. But I hope it all works out for you. I would use black buttons lol... Unless you want it to look like you are packing two shots of NOS ;-)

Lol yeah, last thing I need is my passengers begging me to use the nos I don't have.and I have low profile black buttons im going to try to use, there long enough to go through the steering wheel however. I'm not too worried about damage, I got the idea when I was looking through the diy section and someone posted about reversing the + and - on the tiptronic. In theory I can tap the wires shown in the diy thread. The left one would downshift ( wired to the - ) and the right would upshift (wired to the + on tiptronic). It will also only work if the shifter is put in ss mode, because I'm tapping the wire's that are active during as mode only.
