btw, the SL55's have been known to provide those times. I know a guy who just traded his SL55 for a SL600 and he does miss his SL55 but does enjoy the SL600. He does say it isn't as responsive, and both cars are pretty modded

The 911 Turbo 'might' hit a 3.9s 0-60 and the GT2 has some trouble hitting a 3.8s 0-60 and the GT3 hits a 4.0s 0-60. About the only cars that will take this Merc are the ENZO and SALEEN S7R and FORD GTO - all of these on a 2x to 4x price premium!!
There is also another Chrysler 'concept' which is touted as a possible production car. It's called the ME412 - Mid Engine, 4 Turbo, 12 cylinder.
850hp and a 3000lb curb weight... 1.6lb / hp (the Enzo is 5lb / hp btw). 0-60 in 2.9s and 1/4-mile in 10.1 @ 148!!!! Man... you have to have a souped up civic to beat that

From the guy I was telling you guys about, he says he thinks these times are a little out there. He said he got beat by a just chipped 996TT even w/ his renntech mods.

firstly, it's 10 Gs more, and second... they see the hp figure is the same and it says AMG, so why not.

the SL market is not enthusiasts. the car is luxury before sport. no matter how fast it is, it's got a 5 speed auto. doesn't scream "sport" to me.
and i drive a 5AT CL-S, heh.

The 55 is more of a driver's car (sporty), the 600 is softer and doesn't have the tiptronic controls on the steering wheel (U.S. model) where the SL55 does.
I'd rather have the SL55. For the reasons Beltfed listed (value, sports apeal) plus sound and upfront price. The SL600 sounds nice, but the SL55 w/ a nice exhaust takes the cake for me. The price difference is only $6K but I see no reason to spend it (mbusa.com). SL55s can pull lower mid 12s, so it's no slouch.
