Awesome time! DO IT if you can. Ran a 35sec time for the course and the pro time for the day was 29.9. Not bad for only running the course 2x without a walk through.
They also had go karts. Which was fun and then of course test driving the mazda vehicels on the course.
MazdaSpeed Protoege:
positives: quick turn-in and light
negatives: turbo lag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the time the thing spools up you need to shift. Clutch.......... omg.....odd placement and the engagement point was SO vague.
Miata:
positives: peppy engine, light, superb handling
negatives: same as the other....too vauge
Sidenote.....i was driving the hell out of the Miata and the dudes at the track started yelling at me to slow down and then I pull in and the handlers are like....ok you are done for the day.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I'm going on the 27th here in DC. I'm looking forward to it.
The course is on the Mazda 6, right?
Is the car they give you auto, manual, or did you have a choice?
If it's an auto tranny, does it have a SS/tiptronic feature?
I thought you did 3 runs? One practice and then 2 for real? Maybe I misunderstood. You said they didn't do a walk-through?Did they do any kind of tent-talk about the course?!

Yes it's on the Mazda6 that his heavily lowered with eibach springs and falken autocross tires and exhaust. They give you a automatic w/tiptronic enabled. They have 3 skills courses you can practice particular aspects of road racing. We only got 2 runs. They have a REAL shitty drawing of the course. It's not to scale either.

Stay or leave
I couldn't register in time, do you think there is going to be any spots available. I would like to go and race around. How is the track they set up? To bad its an automatic.

It was a hella of a day, definetly entertaining and educational, easily worth the 40 bucks.
I was not having the best of driving days however. Spun out twice in the go-karts and hit two cones on the second run of the competition.
cone= minus two seconds.
first run was ok though somehow managing a 34.5.
The cars are all Mazda 6 V6. They handle like crap however and definetly need better tires. However, overall the event was very interesting.
I liked the rx-8, test drives were not allowed on it however.

Yeah, I was there on Sunday. Not a bad setup, though heavily into the Mazda6 pitches.
I ran a 34.3 my first run through, then was on pace to beating it with a 33.5, but took out a cone so 35.5. Met up with a buddy there who had done some F1 in the past and he managed to put up a 31.3 - good enough for 13th overall for the weekend. Not too shabby.
The one thing that sucked was waiting in the lines to run the clinics. Also, it was rough going from the Comp Run back to the track clinic and feeling how much looser the car was without the springs. Tough to keep under control once you've been out on the Comp Track. One really nice feature of the Mazda6 was the tilt & telescoping wheel - let me be properly positioned below (6'2") and bring the wheel nice and close. Wish the CL had that...
I was hoping for a bigger course, and it would have been nice to get a couple of more runs to familiarize with the course itself. However, as has been mentioned, for $39 it was not too bad. I'd definitely do it again.
I parked one row in front of the S2ks all lined up. Mine was the Silver CLS6 with the b&w DE plates. Dirty as all hell because I had driven out to Pittsburgh the day before for the Vintage GP.
