Thumbs up MAXED CAR OUT VS DINAN STAGE III 335i (E90) + E46 HIGHWAY KILL

I had the best race ever in my cl a couple hrs ago. After coming off a loss to the new m5, I wanted to see if I could redeem myself against another beamer, and this is no ordinary 335. My friend is super ballin' and if it comes to performance parts, his dad will buy him anything he wants, so when he got the 335i sedan auto, he immediately put in dinan stage 1 software, and consecutively w/ the release of stage II and III. Keep in mind that dinan rates their stage III @ 398 horsepower and 429 lb-ft torque. I had never had a chance to race him due to conflicting schedules, but tonight a group of our friends met up to go to a party which sucked balls, so we decided to do a couple of runs. We started on 19th avenue doing a couple runs from a dig which I knew I was going to lose and I did. I just couldn't hook up the car and I was peeling out like crazy. Meanwhile, the e90 didn't peel out whatsoever and pulled a good 3 to 4 car lengths on me right away as members had told me would happen. If anything, I would be playing catch up, so my best chance would be from a roll which isn't good either b/c the turbo would be spooling already, but I would also hit boost in the s/c as well so I figured I could test out the true potential since I just changed the tensioner yesterday and there was no CEL indication... YET! So, we went onto 280S from 19th avenue going towards daly city and we went from 2nd gear, approx. a 20-25mph roll. At about 4k I honked 3 times and smashed on the gas, there were no cars ahead so it was perfect. I hooked up fully and redlined to 3rd w/ the 335 trailing behind by a half car length. 3rd went by like a blur and I was into 4th going pretty fucking fast, but I had to pay attention to the road because it started to curver alot and I know I don't have the best handling car. At the end of 4th and I had to cut around another car as I approached it in the middle lane and I was worried the 335 would have the advantage but I was still in the lead by a mere car length. I hit 5th, and then 6th, still leading until I hit the rev limiter and the 335 went flying by me. I had never done that before and it felt like I had missed a gear even though I didn't because I was in 6th. It felt like the car automatically put on the brakes and it surged me forward a bit. I called my friend and told him to meet up over my the starbucks near serramonte b/c that's usually where all the tricked out cars tend to meet up on the weekends in frisco. When we got there my saw some ppl I knew and a guy claiming a 10 sec. integra My friend told me that he hit 180, but there was nothing I could do b/c my car couldn't go any faster, but it was definetly crazy b/c his car was still pulling. I was happy w/ the results but my CEL came on again. Oh well, that's nothing new, but I guess dinan's numbers aren't at the wheel b/c my friend was smashing and you can't exactly fuck up on an auto.
Another kill story was my buddy's e46 which I raced last week but I forgot to post, mineaswell make a thread just for beamer encounters We went from a 4th gear pull at about 70 and I just kept pulling while I saw his hid's get farther and farther behind me. I felt bad so I let him have a dig race on 19th which again I couldn't hook up the wheels but was less than a car length behind heading into 2nd. Guess it goes to show the dinan software makes a huge difference, but stats wise, dunno about that. I tried to get my gf to film the 335 race but she didn't want to Next time, I promise!

Ur gonna get flamed for street racing, but at least you admit there were no cars ahead of you on the highway. Nice kills though, i can only imagine how nice it would be to beat a 335 in my 1st gen LOL.

He said the road started to curve and he had to cut around a car. and you hit the rev limiter in 6th? how fast is that?
You gotta be careful you could have hit that car or taken that curve wrong. Sorry but you knew some flames were coming your way.

Be careful on 19th Kris. I'm assuming you guys are racing on that stretch between Stonestown and State? Good kills either way.

It was late, and that's why we decided to run b/c there weren't that many cars. I know I should be conscious, esp. around the curves, so thanks for the constructive criticism b/c I know dragging other than at the track isn't exactly the best itdea. But all flames aside, I dunno how fast I was going, but I think the speed limiter in our cars is 150, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice run Kris. Doesn't sound like the CEL is hurting you too much by the way it sounds.

werd. thats exectly what i was thinking!!

nice job maxing out the CL! a few years ago when i just got my Legend i saw the speedo at 155mph slight down hill, on a long stretch of highway, with a passenger (a girl i was driving with). I'll be the first to admit we were going way to fast with cars around, and it was mucho-stupidio, they seemed like they were standing, surprisingly she was less scared of going that fast and how crazy it was slowing down, i downshifted as much as possible (6MT) not to overheat the brakes. she didn't really enjoy that. I haven't seen past 145mph since.

Not sure what the limiter is? Have not been there yet. But I will tell you in stock form I've been to 146 MPH in my 01 CLS.

I won't be trying to reach that spped untill I get better tires. I don't trust my Goodyear Responce Edges. Sounds like a nice BMW, Good kill.

doesn't make sense
you would hit the limiter (147 or 155mph) before the end of 5th gear..

something doesn't add up.

even if you changed the size of your tires, 5th goes all the way to 170mph before it runs out

Dude, read your quote more carefully. It says he hit fifth AND THEN sixth until he reached the electronic governer (its around 147-148 I think). So he was in sixth when he hit the limiter which is when the 335 went flying by. So it does make sense.

well that's what happened so if you don't believe me then that's your opinion. I know I was in 6th

He is saying that you will not run out of RPM till you get to 170. Gear ratio wise. Will the car do 170? No it won't.

I could definetly max out my car in 5th. 6th is overdrive and meant to save on gas. There is no reason to shift into 6th when going for pure speed.

THen again I never took my car passed 140 which was in 5th gear but I still had quite a bit to go and I think Fuel Cutoff is before 150.
