Hey guys, I have come across something recently and I was growing curious. My car hit 50,000 miles last week and a little before that my "Maintenance Required" light in my gage would flash a couple of times when I start my car. Now that I'm past 50,000 miles when I start the car the light flashes 10 times. I'm not sure if I have just never seen it or its really recent. Do I need maintenance or no because the light has to stay on??

 

it begins to flash a few times, then ten times, and as the miles add on, it will soon be a solid light.

the light comes on at about every 7500 miles. it usually indicates a oil change and other service under "normal" driving conditions according to acura's service manual.

basically its just a reminder light based only upon mileage. i suggest following the service interval in your owners manual. the light has no effect on your vehicle at all, you could leave it on or ignore it if you wanted to.

the light could be easily reset. there are threads on this site about how to reset it but it also shows how to in your owner's manual. its very easy.

I actually got an oil change at 49,400 miles. And i don't have an owners manual. I bought my car used and never came with one.
