Maintenance Reqd Light
I recently took my car TO THE DEALER for a 50k oil change.. Everything looked good.. Now, at 50800, the maint reqd light comes on and flashes when I start the car.. It does not stay on (but I assume it will..) ... Is it likely the dealer forgot to hold in select/reset or may something else be wrong?
Will the dealer charge to look at it now that it's out of warranty?
Thanks,Elliot

Kinda related...
My car is due for it's 60K service (aka, the big rip off) and my Main't Req icon is flashing. Do you think that it's required to maintain my extended 100K Acura Care warranty?
If so, is there a way I can do this on my own and maintain my warranty?
Besides the fluid changes (three right? brake, tranny, and...?...I forget) it's all pretty much an inspection thing, right? (oh....I don't think I want an Acura filter where my AEM is; I just changed my oil, early; and I recently rotated my tires)
THANKS!!!!

yes and no....
the extended warranty does require that you follow the manufacturer's recommended maint schedule but you obviously are not forced to go to a dealer for this work...
worst case scenario is if there's some problem with the vehicle that you'd like to get covered under warranty you will need to show that you have taken "reasonable care" of the vehicle in the way of maint. services....so it may become a point of contention if you ever look to get a repair covered by warranty that the dealer feels is due to neglect...it's tough to prove that you "checked" all the things you're supposed to and i suppose a receipt for parts like filters, fluids and so on would be the only documentation you would have tosupport the fact that you service your vehicle....
you could always get creative and videotape your home services...
