Main't Rec'd light

Hey guys. Have my magbaflows on for over a week now and I'm starting to notice that my maintanence rec'd light blinks for a while when I first turn on the car. At the beginning it was like 1 blink but now it blinks for a good 30-50 seconds.

Its starting to conern me if this is going to be a bigger problem later on. OR..is it not related to the exhaust?

It's not related to the exhaust.

The faster it blinks, the closer it gets to the 7500 miles "maintenance" (oil change and whatever else needs to be done at that 7500 miles.

There's a thread up in here someplace that tells you how to turn it off.

It's not gonna go off by itself, you have to manually reset the light every time you change the oil.

Like what mine is doing:

Changed the oil at 74000 miles (light was reset at the time), car now has 81xxx, it has begun to start blinking to let me know that i'm due for an oil change soon.

Yea I figured that out when. Did my last oil change. But the thing is the mobil 1 I put in is suppose to last a while longer. I guess the computer just thinks every 3-5k of miles then change regardless of how long the oil you put in is suppose to last

Your ECM doesn't know the grade, weight, or quality of oil- it just cycles the light.

Newer models use more than mileage for the maint reminders.

Hold down your select and reset buttons on your dash.
Turn ignition on while holding buttons.
Keep buttons pressed until light turns off.

That;s it

MainReq light on our cars is so freaking dumb, its more like a timer that goes off every 7500 miles regadless of all the conditions. it goes strictly by miles. Any time it goes off, I just reset it. All my maintenace work is recorded in my book, so I really don't need any stupid reminders. I have my own maintenance schedule, no need for some lights to go off.

The computer has no idea of any thing you just stated. Its pre-programed for 7500 mile change intervals. Nothing more nothing less. YOU have to reset it every time you change your oil.
