Magnaflow 14832 Installed

Like the title says, I finally got these installed. I had the shop make me a custom axleback that can be bolted-on and off whenever I like. I got the exhaust at a great price of $140 shipped, and paid about $120 for the install (they did a great job). In the end, I got a great sounding and looking exhaust for under $300. The sound is great, it is exactly what I wanted, not insanely loud but throaty. Enough talk, here are some pics:

Nice man. Tell us how it sounds. Nice deep tone at low rpm's? How does it sound after 3k+ rpms? tone go away? Also, can you take a pic of the exhaust straight on from like 10+ feet away. Congrats again and sweet deal on it too!

Thanks. There is a nice deep throaty sound at low rpms, that you really can't hear much at VTEC. I think the higher RPMs are a tad bit louder and deeper, but the majority of the difference is heard 1000-4000 RPMs. Also, taking of in first has a real pleasant rumble and when I downshift from say 3rd to 2nd, there is a little feedback and sometimes popping (I like the sound).

There isn't much droning at all, maybe in 6th gear at around 60-63mph, if you give a little more gas then necessary you will experience *minor* droning. I will take a pic once I get a chance.

if you ever replace your b-pipe you will probably experience heavier droning

but these are nice mufflers, good choice on the tips their perfect, and the work looks nice and clean, looks like they replaced the entire axleback pipe and didn't just do a chop and weld job

Willdogs does a good job with documenting how the exhaust sounds in this thread:

Looks like they did a very good job on the install and the tips don't look too big The best thing about this setup is when you go back to stock it's easier to replace.

You got both mufflers for 140 shipped, wow, from were??
The cheapest i find em for is 128 each, shipped.
Can you compare the exhaust note to any other car?
Is it quiet in the car with the windows up?
Oh yeah looks great

Yeah I got it from hottexhaust.com and a friend of mine had a 15% off coupon code and free shipping. I can't really compare it to any other car, it's unique in its own way. Also, it is not too loud with the windows up, just nice and throaty. You can hold conversations and talk on the phone, not crazy at all.

i have the same set up with the same mufflers.... they did a custom job for me to so that i can take them off and put the stock on if i want. anyway here are some tips sound wise...
you can make the sound a lot louder and deeper after you race around like do 1 run from stop. floor it the whole time all the way up to 7k rpm in first and second gear and after you do that when you drive around normaly for like 30 min your car is ganna sound so sick.... it gets a lot louder and deeper. it will also get louder and deeper when it is very cold out like 15-25 degrees.
i want to take my resonator out to get more sound out of them because they sound so deep.... does anyone know how much it is to do a streight pipe for the resonator???

and you will get a deep tone also when your are doing around 60mph and your rpm is at 3500 and just give it a little gas... you hear it best when you are in a tunnel... thats when it gets loud.

its a resonator that quiets it down even more... thats what i was talking about... i want to take that out and put a streight pipe instead... some ppl say it sounds loud but its a v6 3.2 with a good exhaust system... i dont think its possible for it to sound like a little v4 ricer...
i have megan 4th batch headers...

I have heard CL's on here with different exhaust set ups that sound almost like a 4 cyl. That's why I was planning on going with Magnflow or Comptech cause I know they dont.

After agonizing over which exhaust system to get, I've come to believe that this magnaflow custom install is the best value.

The sound clips posted on here are ridiculous, a really deep and mellow sound and the total installed cost is right around $300 - basically 1/2 the price of the Comptech. I made an appointment for next Weds with a custom exhaust shop here in NH... my cans should arrive Monday or Tuesday.

Kudos to you guys who developed this mod, I never would have considered it otherwise and now I can spend my savings on an IceBox!!

The forum members on here are kick ass!

Your gonna love them, be sure to report back.

I recently bought headers also, I'll have to see how that changes the exhaust tone (if any).

you can probably reuse the stock tips. order magnaflow mufflers without tips, take the stock tips off your stock mufflers, then intall the tips on the new mufflers.

just an idea

^I have thought about that, but I might go for the change and keep the Magnaflow tips.

Moodist- I had Magnaflows on my last car and loved them, so from the looks and sound of these, I dont think I will be disappointed. I do have Comptech Headers and Icebox, so it should be an interesting mix to see the combination of sound throughout the rpm band.

Moodist: did they mandrel bend the piping?? cuz the place im going to says theyre going to have to cut the flange, because its too close, and they dont madrel bend at all, they crush bend ....which means i cant return to stock if i want. and i want that luxury too do so. and they quoted me for $175 ..which i also think thats too much, what u guys think???

Find another place is my suggestion. I had mine mandrel bent with all stainless pipe stock and custom built flanges to hook up directly to the Y-Pipe for $170. Don't cheap out on this mod, you'll want to get all the money if you ever trade that bad-boy in. Plus you can sell your magnaflow system on e-bay for good money as a bolt-on system.

Stealth CL, yes they did mandrel bend the pipe and everything is direct bolt-on. Try going to another place, also $170 seems a little steep.
