M6 vs Road lamp housing

Has anybody used a Dremel tool or somthing to make the hole in the road lamp housing bigger? I think I can trim just enough to let the bulb fit easier and still screw the socket back in. I broke another freakin M6 trying to "screw" it in

Ar eyou taking the entier lamp housing out?! That's gotta be the easiest way to do this. Take the housing out...pull out the old...put in the new, and place the housing over the bulb and re-insert. Piece of cake. I wouldn't use a dremel, 'cause if you go too big, you may start to take in water and other road debis after time.

IMO

Good luck

I just replace my M6's (burn out) and that hole would have to be huge, as the bulbs "bubbled" and had to be broken to come out. Also, my housing only showed a mild "burn/sing" above the bulb. YMMV

Yeah I take the whole housing out. The problem is the bulb won't go through the hole, even if I "screw" it in. The bulb will fit in the driver's side housing with work but the passenger side goes in almost halfway and breaks.

Road Lamps / M6 Polarg

Similiar problem here: I finally read CHOD's FAQ on Getting the Housing out. I took mine up to Acura because one of my bulbs ( M6) had Burned out, on trying to take it out--before reading CHODs FAQ, the BULB slipped into the housing. Called Acura, they said they would replace, but of course its gona be the OLD 5wt bulb. They tried getting the other M6 out and I noticed that the bulb was shattered. Must have touched it with their hands. You'd think they would no better.

Anyway, they are suppose the replace the whole housing now...since bulbs from both LAMPS are laying in the housing(s).

I used a dremel on mine and had no problems at all. Dont shave off too much...just enough to allow the bulb to slide in.

dont force it in.. the bulb goes in pretty easily.. just put a slight pressure and u may need to twist a little bit and make sure its totally straight when ur pushing/twisting it in, it worked for me the first time i tried to fit them.. good luck
