m5 not that fast??

A friend of mine bought an M5 and took me for a ride. He stopped on the highway (middle of nowhere at night, no traffic), then took it 0 to 100. It was fast as hell, but still not what I expected. For the $90,000 he paid for it, I expected more. I don't really know the numbers on this car, does anyone know how fast its supposed to be? Maybe it was just because it ran so smooth that it didn't feel as fast as it really was.

Absolutely gorgeous car though, he got custom carbon fiber interior...looks real nice.

$90,000???? Is that just cause of dealer mark up?? M5s have similar numbers to a Vette if i remember correctly, maybe a bit slower.

maybe cause it weighs near 2 tons...although it feels very heavy, it's a pretty quick car

M5 not that fast?!?!

Sir, you need to take your butt dyno back into the shop and have them re-checked...

I've never been in one before, but I've tried to follow it once... and man did it pull on my CL....

Also, M5 is for pimpn', if I have one, I wouldn't want to drive too fast, because then no one can see that it's me driving it.

you are too dumb to spell 'you're'

Loaded M5- 73,000 + custom rims + custom carbon fiber interior + sales tax ($5000) + gas guzzler tax ($3000)

90,000 bucks dick.

Everyone jumped all over me on this. I was asking how fast it is. Maybe he didn't drive it as fast as it could really go. It was brand new maybe he was taking it easy. Maybe its just so damn smooth it didnt feel as fast as it is on paper. Maybe since we were on a 4 lane highway with nothing around it didn't feel as fast as ripping down a narrow tree lined side road. I didn't say it wasn't fast, I just said it didn't feel like it was as fast as I expected.

Or maybe the difference between 5.8 seconds (which I am used to) 0-60 and 4.8 seconds isn't as earth shattering as I expected it to be. I kind of thought fireworks and sonic booms would erupt around me at sub 5 second 0-60 times....

Damn....

He probably took it easy. Actually, there is a HUUUUGE difference between 5.8 and 4.8. You'd definitely know the difference especially when you get to those speeds.

nah no pics. I was just up at his place on a trip I took back east.

this guy invented some kind of low energy lighting for malls and department stores that is guaranteed to repay the cost of installation in I think 3 years, then after that save big bucks...so he's got contracts with Gap and all these big stores to put it into all their branches...bought a house on Candlewood Lake (if anyone knows CT, real nice area)...hes got a new Expedition, a F350, the M5, and a speedboat...all paid for in cash.

says hes getting a ferrari next year... dates a swedish model too.

this scumbag makes me look like a bum...hes got ten years on me though...not that I expect to be making loot like him...

and yeah I know someone will say he shouldn't pay cash with interest rates how they are, but he didn't want to deal with bills or something he just paid in full. dumb I know.

13.3 isnt earth shattering to me either...12.3 that would be fast...although an M6 would be on my list of future dream cars i think i'd want to blow the M5 inorder to make it what it should be in terms of acceleration

I think I know who you are talking about - I don't know him, but I lived in Candlewood lake when I interned at a company in Greenwich...Candlewood Lake is nice but the rest of Danbury is crap...

But to get back on track - The M5 is fast, I just think its because you didnt have much to base his speed off of because of the conditions you were in

I'm sure your friend wasn't really ripping it in considering it's probaby still in break in period. I know what you mean abut big cars not "feeling" fast though.

you lived by candlewood lake? if you were ever out on the lake you would know his place...he had a 30 foot tall tree carved into a totem pole, and then another giant chunk of wood carved up like an indian head/ totem pole type thing. you can't miss it from out on the lake.

and yeah, most of Danbury is a shithole. theres a few nice spots.

you ever go to Ridgefield, next town over from Danbury? thats where I'm from.

apparEntly. guess I am the dick.

and damn, talk smack on an m5 and its like I insulted everyones mother.

I take it back. It was the fastest thing I have ever felt. They should sell tickets at 6 flags to ride in an m5. It blew my mind. I can't sleep.

Some people here knew what I was talking about...if you were to go 6 seconds 0-60 in a shopping cart it would feel much faster than 6 seconds in an Acura.

and sorry about starting the 'dick' thing...its a little annoying now. some guy says 'ur dumb' when he doesn't know what he's talking about...but whatever.

90k, maybe 87500, I dont know. he said around 90k...so a new one is 73500 loaded, plus destination and dealer fees, plus gas guzzler tax, sales tax, and custom rims and interior. seems to work out for me.

Hey!!! In CT, I consider Bridgeport, Waterbury, most of New Haven shitholes. Danbury has shady parts, but it's far from a shithole.

I wouldn't live here if I had the choice, but work dictates living situations sometimes

Screw M5's I would much rather have an E55 AMG

Costs 76,000 and according to car and driver "crushes the corvette Z06 and almost hangs with the viper". Dont bash me thats just what I read in c&d. Plus the new mercedes sunroofs are cool as shit, solar powered ventaltion so the interior doesn't get too hot
