Lowering spring questions..

All,

I have a couple of questions about lowering springs and was hoping I could get an answer for you guys. I have a 2003 TL Type S. I know this is a CL board but was hoping for some advice.

1. Will the install of H&R Sport springs VOID my suspension warranty? I was just told by David McDavid Acura that it will.

2. Anyone know of a place in the Plano area that installs springs? I called Jotech in Garland and they wanted $200 labor to install the H&R's. That seems high, but I heard Jotech does great work.

3. I have decided to get the H&R Sport springs. Are Eibach worth the extra $$$. Is the ride any better?

I promise this is my last post about this. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

ok, im not familiar with any other springs besides Comptech, but it is true that if you blow a strut (which has happend to a few members here with lowering springs) you will have to pay for it, the dealer can definately attribute stock strut failure to the new lowering springs, so its a risk you have to take...however, in my opinion, and in the opinion of virtually everyone here, its WORTH the risk...i mean seriously, a replacement STOCK strut is about 40-50 bucks....so even if you blow a stock strut (which usually doesnt happen until the lowering springs have been on for a long time) its not a huge cost to get it replaced....on the other hand, a blown strut is the perfect opportunity to upgrade to some better struts, i.e. koni yellows. so you will have to understand that lowering your car will give your dealer a good reason to make you pay for things like blown struts but its not like it happens all the time, in fact, it may never happen. its a risk well worth it though, the handling benefit and the awesome look of the lowered car are well worth the risk.

1) They do not void the warranty. No aftermarket mod voids the warranty unless the dealer can prove... without a doubt, that the modification caused the problem. For example, if your stock shocks go earlier then usual, you have to replace them... but something else happens, like a tranny issue.. you're fine.

Basically, your suspension warranty is pretty much gone... but everything else would be covered as normal.

2) Can't help you there.. but I paid about $200 for install too. Not sure if it would be cheaper in TX. There aren't many places around me... so the price tends to be higher here.

3) H&R Sports are pimp... I love them. The Eibach's are nice too... but not many (if any) people have them, so there's not much feedback on them. Comptech and H&R are the two most popular brands, so either one of those should be fine

Good luck and welcome aboard
