Lowered the shift knob today...nice easy mod

Read a post yesterday somewhere about lowering the Auto shift knob as the factory has it sitting up so high. I drove to work and thought "you know that guy has a point". So I unscrewed the wooden knob I have and cut off half of the threaded portion that holds it as it is pretty long. I used a hacksaw and had to saw for maybe three minutes. I put a rag around the base to catch the filings first. The knob went right back on no trouble, meets your hand coming off the armrest better and looks better too. Can't think of any downside so I'm happy about it so far.

You can also use an automatic RSX's shift knob...it'll lower the shifter down about a half inch to inch...and doesn't require sawing.

You didnt have to re-thread the lever after you cut it?

Still goes in all gears fine-- To be safe I found a nut that fit the shaft and screwed it down low and made the cut, and then unscrewed it just in case, but it came right up no trouble so I wouldn't have needed it. It was size 8mm : 1.25 thread pitch, very common metric size.

I like were did you get it, how much and how much lower is it compared to stock??. Does it go into D2 and D1 without a problem and does it tighten up as tight as stock.???? Im thinking about getting it.

I can go to whatever gear I want just fine. I've tried it numerous of times. It cost about $25 wihtout shipping from acuraautomotiveparts.org. There is only one draw back though...actually two...it feels kinda cheap mainly because it's made of plastic, but I personally don't really care and 2nd...it's almost the right color as the stock trim, but not quite. It fits on tight...like a penis in a virgin... :X

And what the hell do you know about that fag boy :pfawk:

Really tho...I have seen one that was solid silver with red for the 1-6 gears (on a manual) I am not sure but I think it was for the RSX or the s2k...does anyone know which one and if it would fit??
