Lowered a Mustang... so happy I have an Acura!!

I just lowered my friend's Mustang tonight... and boy am I glad I have an Acura!!

First off... the suspension on that car is really crappy. Second... the quality of materials and just the positioning of components for easy access etc. has entirely not been thought of. Third... the damn bolts and nuts arn't metric!!!!

Anyways... just venting

I watched "Hot Rod TV" on TNN last weekend and they had a project where they were lowering a Stang with Eibach springs and bilstein struts. It looked pretty easy to me. Since the spring and struts were separate there was no need to compress the spring to remove the strut (biggest pain in the ass w/o the right tool)

They also welded some cross-member bracing ordered from Mopar (or something like that). Of course they did all this in 15 minutes during the segment which is no way possible.

It's not rocket-science... its quite easy actually. The rear took a whole 15 mins and the front took about 15 mins each side. My point is that its still a piece of crap! h

Those Hot Rod TV guys have never even got their damn hands dirty the whole time i've watched the show!@! Everything they work on is sooo clean and new... bastards! I would like to see a more realistic show where every nut and bold is covered in grease and dirt and bolt stripping off and such. That would teach them

Not much thought has gone into the maintainance and upgrading of mustang suspension and metric is sooooo much easier to work with!

The weird thing is Ford is all messed up on a lot of their things. Thermostat is mounted vertically on the front of the engine. Really fun to try to install in sub-zero weather when your fingers are froze, and it keeps falling off.

My wife had an '89 Cobra, I owed a '82 Pontiac boat. Pick any task on the Pontiac, and then try to do it on the Mustang. Shit, it would take 2-3x longer! Everything was an absoulte bitch. Nobody in Ford engineering ever imaged somebody would work on it after I guess! (Or assumed it would be wrapped around a pole before it needed to be.....

Ford made a Cobra in 89?? Corbras weren't reintroduced until 1993. Maybe you mean a GT.

Speaking of those Hot Rod TV guys.....

Anyone besides me get totally distracted by the fat guys hair piece? On the newer episodes, he grew out his real hair in back, but it usually doesn't match the color of his wig.

I just want to reach inside the TV and rip it right off his head.

The only person with a wig worse than his was that Senator...whats his name.....??? He's in jail now.....

Actually, it's not Hot Rod TV, it's Horsepower TV.

And the other guy was James Traficant:

Now that's funny.
