Lower Mesh Grill DIY

Just finished my lower grill with a mesh insert. I've been putting it off since I thought it would be difficult, but it turned out to be pretty simple- I didn't even trim the insert, and fastened it with aluminum angles and automotive 3/4" double-stick foam tape.

Can provide details if anyone is interested.

Mesh grill details

I used Amerimax hinged gutter guard, $2.50 a sheet for upper and lower- Ace Hardware. You have to remove the large plastic hood latch shroud, and unbolt the hold latch itself- be sure to mark the location L/R and U/D, or you will have to fiddle with it later.

Mark the mesh in the middle and crease it to match the grill contour. You may need to flatten it a little to help. Insert fro the top, in front of the radiator.

I made 4" right angle aluminum right angles, about 1" each side, and used 4 top and 4 bottom with 3/4" good auto foam tape to stick them in place. I bent the unused mesh ends around by habd to hold it side to side.

Everything on the car can be returned to stock in less than an hour with no damage.

Shark Tales?

Actually, the camera flash highlites it more than it shows on the street; I may flat black the upper grill to play around until I get the best look. It might look better on silver.

Decent. Might look better on a silver or white car.

I wanna see someone get it powdercoated gloss black. That would look hot.
