loving the option pulley!

So i had just the intake on my car and my bro's got a prelude h22a with headers, intake.

Now i know the cl is faster stock vs stock but here's the news.

We ripped 3rd gear vs 3rd gear (Prelude: intake/headers) (CL: intake) and I was just creeping on him.

THEN I installed the skunk 2 intake manifold on his car, and got the option pulley on my CL and did it again..

OOOWWWW WEEEE.... and i pulled this time much! more (from 100-160km/h in 3rd) (60-100mph)

FOR THE RECORD: I'm only talking about 3rd cause that's the closest point for the 2 cars... 1st and 2nd i own him. so we wanted to get some sort of a similarity for comparison.

HATS FUCKIN OFFFF to the underdrive pulley. I'm thinkin 10hp gain at max rpms for sure. Definately freed up a lot of shit at high rpms.

I didn't think I'd see a noticable gain but god damn.

So after adding the intake manifold to the prelude, and adding JUST the pulley to the CL, the CL was pulling even more on the prelude. THUS: i gained MUCH more off the pulley vs bro's intake manifold (oh anddd new fuel injectors cause his were cracked)

Just to let everyone know who may have their doubts. I would like to rectify them.

This mod is the SHIZZLE for RIZZLLE

hahaha hadd to say that

Nice....

After installing mine I really did not notice any difference in power..
My AC does seem to blow colder and it seems easier to steer but it might just be in my head..

I had the UR pulley on my CL. It definitely freed up a lot of lost HP. The RPMs shot up a LOT faster from a dig.

yes there is a DIY in the tl section i think which is identical.

You will need new belts... the ones everyone is using in the US are not the same as the ones found in canada. IE they are not available.

If you cannot find them then use the ones I have in this thread. They're on my car now and work like a charm.

thanks for the info..but im getting a bit confused... so what belt numbers exactly would i need to look for at a local store in the US? that thread had a whole bunch of different model numbers...

and lastly, did it REALLY make a difference? in gains?

thanks

k I don't know HOW to express myself any more than I just did. YES it makes BIG difference. It's at least the equivalent of an intake

I noticed more with the pulley than the intake, I swear.

10hp minimum I'd say.

When I got the car stock it would lul up past 6300rpms like it was asking for the next gear.

Now i can hit the rev limiter when i'm ripping it because it keeps pulling.

remember this mod shaves somewhere near 8-9 lbs off the rotational mass of the car PLUS it spins your accessories ratio-wise much less.

SO the faster you go (the higher u rev) the more it is helping you.

as soon as i got it i put the car in neutral a gave her a quick pedal... and the revs fly up and down in comparison to before. Kinda like what a flywheel would do. Accept with a flywheel you lose TOP end because it has less INERTIA to fight wind forces and such.

I KNOW this because i had a ford probe previously and then did that mod. And then I couldn't break 205km/h when previously the car would go 220.

A pulley won't do this however since it isn't as much of a loss of weight as the flywheel. The option pulley is BASICALLY lightening your crankshaft and taking off extra strain from spinning everything faster than needed.

to answer your question... it is worth it

to answer the belt question:

Gates K060441 = Metric 6PK1120 = Goodyear 4060441

Gates K040425 = Metric 4PK1079 = Goodyear 4040425

Those are the brands and the codes.

1st row is the alternator belt THICK one

2nd row is the pwr steering belt THIN one

Good to hear it was worth it.

I will be picking up a UR pulley (don't trust a $25 ebay one) next month. Since I sold my Megans and fogs I have some extra $$$

trust me the option pulley is perfectly fine. its doing the same thing as UR but cheaper. plenty of people have bought it and they have had no problems. the only reason im taking off my option pulley is because f the blower if it werent for that i would just keep my option pulley.

If it was an ebay intake, that just sits there, then i would use your logic-----> "It's not like a piece of aluminum can fail". But this is a piece that spins thousands of times per minute.

Engine mods are something that you dont want to be cheap on............ive learned that the hard way

you'd be surprised how aluminum fails. i see it at work every day and its bigger and stronger than the pulley, but still fails and it amazes me how
