ok, so Lou weighs about 30 pounds less than me...and now that his trunk is empty, he's got 11 pounds less per wheel, so that's another 44 pounds, so he's got about 75 pounds (nice round number) on me

hey man, whatever makes spending the extra money on the IceBox justifyable to u

Lou,
Reset your ECU.....i think you'll see a different story. If you can't feel the jump in power with the headers something isn't working as it should.

ok folks...results r in...

Lou and i did 2 more runs...Titan19 and his friend were on hand to watch at the finish line

from my perspective:

Run #1
Lou hooks up first...takes an initial 2 car length lead...Scooter, in his stupidity, keeps VSA on and sits there like a turd bucking back and forth ...once Scooter hooks up, Lou's lead does NOT expand

Run #2
Scooter thinks 1st and turns off VSA...both hook up IDENTICALLY...running neck and neck from 1st - 2nd...neck and neck all through 2nd...when shifting from 2 - 3, Scooter pulls ahead about 2 - 2.5 lengths and basically ends there

Lou says his 2nd tranny doesn't feel right b/c it drops too low in the rpm band going from 2nd - 3rd and his power steering hose is being pinched b/c of the CT upperstrut bar

that's my take on the little test...thanks guys for coming out!!!

BTW, Lou had over 70 pounds less on me :shakehd:

Lou = Owned in the 2nd run.

I beat Scooter by one car length the first run to about 110 MPH and there is no way Scooter had VSA on cause his tires were spinning like crazy.....nice one Scooter wouldn't VSA prevent you from spinning?

The second run we both grip about the same and run even untill I shift from 2 to 3 I literally saw Scooter's car jump a car length ahead of me.....at which point I led off the gas and knew I wouldn't have caught up to him. I think even with his stock wheels he would beat my car cause he's on the first tranny and my 2nd tranny shifts much less aggressively.(it doesn't lunge you forward when engaging the next gear) Scooter knows he only got the car length after the shifting between 2 and 3.....but who cares the automatic tranny will always be an issue especially when modded. Now I have to see how to correct this problem if even it can be .

This only confirms my intial thoughts about ditching the auto and moving on to the 6 speeder. Im glad I found out now.... there is no way the auto can handle the Comptech Supercharger if they had to change the shifting to a much less aggressive shifting with 200 HP to the wheel imagine with over 300 + HP :thumbsdn:

Oh and Scooter the 01' weighs 30 lbs. less than the 02' CL-S so its only the lightweight wheels that was the big difference. Don't believe me check it out for yourself...... I think they used heavier glass and insulation on the 02' CL-S

All this info is great! After reading all of this, I'm going to go with the AEM. The Ice Box doesn't seem worth the extra money. Thanks for the experiment.

where'd u get this info from??? Edmunds has both cars at identicle weight...even if yer right, u still had the weight advantage...the next step is to see what yer times r at E-Town...if yer running comparable #'s for the 1/8 and 1/4, then yer icebox isn't doing squat

or we could just do a dyno run somewhere in Queens...i think Andy was checkin out some places for us...Andy, any progress on this???

Quick question for Scooter and Lou,
Can you feel any difference in the low end after you got the headers. If not, what speed are talkin for the difference to be felt, over 60mph?
Thanks

headers r more for upper rpm band at all speeds...so u get to redline quicker in all gears...where yer prolly gonna see the most gain is in 4th...the pull in 4th is so much better

Hate to ask a stupid questions, but I'm confused. When ya'll say spinning your tires, do you mean they start to spin, and the traction control kills the RPM, or are you really spinning the tires? Once mine loose traction, the revs are killed and I start over.

yeah, we turn OFF the VSA, so the tires spin and spin until either they grab or we let off the throttle a little

I'm glad you said that. I woke up at 2AM and thought, man if they have 6 speeds, you are going to feel really stupid!
I didn't think the VSA killed the traction control. I thought I tried it and it acted the same. hum. I'll have to try it again when I get the car back from the AB shop. Right before I go get the new tranny Acura ordered for me.

Hey lou, I spin my tires with VSA on..

I think Scooter was saying that his intial spinning of the tires caused the VSA to kick in, which in terms slowed him down on the first run.
