Lost to an S40????????

Lost to an S40????????
WTF??? I hate forced induction! LOL
I pull out of my neighborhood and an S40 had just pulled onto the same street. He was about 2 cars behind me coming from the other side of the road. I hear him get on it so I do the same. Since he got the jump he has momentum and he makes up those 2 cars very quickly. Through 2nd gear he is still with me, perhaps pulling on me very very slowly. I look over thinking, "oh, since this dude is still with me, must be a new S60 T5, right?" Ummm... NO!!! I see the S40 1.8T badge on his car and the shape was definitely the S40. Car looked totally stock! By about 90mph he is maybe 1/4 car in front of me and I have to let off because of traffic up ahead. Jeeezous! I should have totally anhilated this guy!!! Like I said... I hate forced induction!!

OK, well I feel a little better.
I was going to work last week and a POS 15+ year old Brown Volvo was in front of me. It was just a typical boxy Volvo except for the word TURBO on the back. We'll we were both transitioning from one freeway to another and once we hit the new freeway I began my merge over to the fastlane. The Volvo in front was stuck behind a slow moving car and truck on his left so I moved over one lane then another, when all of the sudden I see the Volvo on my ass trying to get over to the left too. So I start to move over another lane when the Volvo tries to accelerate and get into that lane, well I'm in third and am able to get in that lane first and was about to get into the fast lane when the Volvo flies past me pulling like a 540 or M3. I mean this was the fastest Volvo that I have ever seen, I have heard of people doing mods to their Volvo's but I never would have expected this car to pull from 70-90 like it did. I was very impressed.

Iam way Volvo's guys lol .... i race Mustangs GT's and GS400 now.. good luck guys.
Last run on the Gtech PRO were 5.4 in 23F.

Something has gotta be wrong here. The S40, while only weighing 2800lbs (wish they could have cut some weight on ours) only puts out 160hp to a 5 speed automatic. Road and track has the fastest Volvo (the S70 turbo 5) rated at 6.1 to 60 and 14.7 in the 1/4 mile. At those times you should have been right with him. I smell a turbo upgrade--that's probably why he pushed it when behind you--he was up to something. I could be wrong, but I would be really surprised.

Turbos are easy to mod with the intercooler and waste gate mod (You should check out the specs on my buddy's RX-7 turbo with 340+ hp at rear wheels).
Some of the Turbos have a ton of torque and work great with manumatics/automatics...

Exactly!!!! That's why I said I hate forced induction..... too damn easy to mod!! A stock S40 is 0-60 in about 7.9 seconds. My old Accord V6 should have been able to take it. And it's absolutely no match for a CL-S. This guy was DEFINITELY modded... I'm not THAT bad of a driver

I don't know about my track times or anything, I am the current owner of a '97 Volvo 850 T5, I bought this car off my friend and I believe it is modified, I am not going to say anything about the CL-S because I want one myself, but I smoke any of you, that are almost stock.
