long overdue RES update.....
long overdue RES update.....
The casting process has been a challenge:
1. Precision fit issues
2. Porosity effects on durability (backfire containment)
3. Excess casting thickness which reduced demonstrated
prototypical power gains.
What does this mean?
These headaches, along with my 60+Hour a week job have slowed the release (READ- Not stopped!) of the final version. It is important that the part is cast vs. a billet piece like the prototype because of cost considerations. If I said the part were a $100 more, most would groan and I don't blame you. My error is being overly optimistic and a bit naive about casting issues. I've made great personal investment in this part going to market and it will shortly. As for my hectic schedule, I've brought on an outsider to help me expedite its release in doing the leg work. The final product will be released that meets the performance predictions and is worthy of being on your cars.
As for MMII, it is running aroung under the hood of my 02 MDX for street testing. It is a modification which could affect drivability if not calibrated properly but so far, so good. Its power bang for the buck is 3X that of the RES although I haven't worked them together yet to see if the gains are additive.
BTW - Tim has been diligent in hounding me about these releases, it is not his fault in any way. He knew as much as most of you.
Thanks for the patience.

wow thanks for the update!
Atleast we have an idea of what is happening right now
Most of all we appreciate your effort.
MMII=3(MMI)
what is that like 45 hp and 45 ft/lbs of torque? Sweet molasas! Add that mod to a stock CLS and we have 245 hp and 210 ft/lbs or torque without other modifications

The cheaper the better for me but you know for quality sometimes you need to pay more. Do what you have to do make it work

BTW...doug...i think many of us would pay the extra 100$ if it meant better quality and faster availablity due to it being billet instead of cast...also if a billet peice were easier to color i think many may opt for that and have paid a 100$ extra anyway...so....do you have a new expected date in mind????

I'd pay $100 more for a billet aluminum one. The joy of aluminum is it can be anodized any color to match the AEM intake perfectly. It can also be polished for the chrome lovers.

Hell, I dished out for the overpriced Comptech parts...so, even paying an extra $100 is nothing compared to how much I had to empty my wallet to buy and install those headers. All I care is if the quality's good and if it'll aid in my goal to be the fastest CL-S in Vancouver
I'd most defintely agree to make it out of Billet Aluminum than a cast design. However if the cast performs better, than I suppose that'd have to be the way to go. In anycase, good to hear an update.
Thanks for the update syncivic. Personally, it doesn't matter to me which way you go, as long as it's a quality product. It looks like that's what you're committed to do, so if the price is $100 more, then so be it!! Either way, I can't wait for the release!!

Thank you for the update! I know I have been hounding Tim for news on the RES. If you could just swing by once a week for a quick update I know most of us here would be most appreciative.
I'll add my name to the list of people willing to spend an extra $100 for guarenteed prototype results and qualtiy.
Hell I just blew $600 on CompTech's exhaust that probably will do jack shia for my car's performance compared to the RES.
I also agree with the others about having the options for the anodized colors that would match the AEM intakes and pulleys.
Keep working on it Doug and don't give up!

You should of just bought a Civic or a prelude and hook it up instead of the CL.
