I'm not real sure if I would want someone being able to tell where I was all the time. Kinda like bugging yourself for someone, and paying for it. I'm not real clear on the specifics of LoJack, but just from browsing around their website for a few minutes it looks like it is "a small, silent transmitter hidden in your car" Or a bug in other words.
I would stick to garaging and making your friends drive all the time.

LoJack doesn't function as a tracking device until you request the police to activate it. Legally, I don't think they can activate it without your permission.
But therein lies the weakness of LoJack, which is that if you don't discover that your car has been stolen before it's been through a chop-shop, you're screwed.
LoJack is nothing to worry about. COMAND, OnStar, and OBD III are potentially greater intrusions of privacy, IMO.

Do not ever tell ANYONE you have it. The authorized Lo-jack installer will not tell you where it is installed either.

When I bought my CL-S on 3/28/01, the dealer asked me if I wanted Lojack and I said NO because I am leasing. Then a few days later, he called me again and said that there was a contest on and he wanted to win. He said that it would only add $5-6.00 to my monthly payment. I said no again. Then he said, how about $2.00 more a month? I said okay. I believe I get a 15% discount from AIU/AIG on my comprehensive for the Lojack, but I'm still NOT sure because they gave me a HARD time! One person said no, another yes, another no etc. They have NO clue! I kept calling them so that they could get everything STRAIGHT before I got bombarded with new declarations pages, but it still didn't stop the deluge. I got 3 packets of info and updated info the same day! I just save everything. It's exactly what I was TRYING to avoid, but I guess they just have so much money that all this needless paperwork means nothing to them.
The Lojack's total cost to me for the 42 month lease is $84.00. My monthly payment only went up the $2.00 a month. Sounds good to me.

I think that lojack is somewhat old technology. The most recent securuty devices such as Vehicle tracking through GPS and remote disable are a for more advanced form of vehicle recovery. The Alarm shop that I use says that they will soon have a system that will allow you to track your vehicle from your PC at home and remotely disable it in the event that your car is stolen by calling a number. And for the same price as LOjack. $600?
Let me try to give my 2 cents...
First of all, as far as i know..there are a million different types of "LoJack"
The acura one sucks.
My friends 528i, calls the nearest precinct 30 seconds after the alarm goes off. We had the cops show up at his car 3 times. He told me its not BMW, and it is a LOJACK system. I am thinking about getting one of those for my CL, but i know 100% the stock one sux for one reason. YOU have to call the cops. It could be hours before you discover your car stolen. So basically its useless. Just my .02 cents.

in a way, i think the lojack system straight from the acura dealer is a rip off. The finance guy sold me Lojack and I dont exactly see the use. He said that the insurance would go down dramatically and it didnt. I dont really see the point. If my car gets stolen, the police will still find it. Dealers are out there to squeeze money from somehere.
