Lifters and a leak in the downpipe?

I am hearing like pings from the engine while in idle like it is a loud engine but i thought it was quiet and dont know anyone else around that has one or a tl. Also when wot on it i hear like a hissing sound . Is this stuff covered under warranty? If the downpipe is bad and the lifters are shot. Thanks

Sounds like you may just need a valve adjustment. That will not be covered under warranty.

Not good... if you haven't made any modifications to your car.... then it should be covered.... even if you have made modifications... as long as you what you did didn't affect the troubled part, you should be good... just don't stand down if you feel you are not a fault.

No... a valve adjustment is routine maintenance. It will not be covered.

thats too much, i know 800 is to do the timing belt and everything, a valve lash adjustment should take a really slow mechanic 2 hours at most so with a rate of $80 and hour and the new gaskets it should be no more then 200-250 for the lash adjustment. really it should only be about $150 but i'll say taking your time.

I've seen people quote prices that high here on the forum.
