Lifetime seatbelt and SRS light

My SRS light has been sporadically coming on for a few months.

I reset it and it stayed off for a month. I reset it and it came back a few weeks later.

Yesterday I reset it and it came back on the second I fastened my seatbelt.

I reset it and started the car already wearing the seatbelt. It never went off.

I reset it and drove beltless for 20 miles no light.

I called Acura and verified the seatbelt warranty, made an appointment and went at 7am they verified code 09-3 seatbelt buckle switch and replaced the buckle.

They washed the car and I was on my way in less than an hour and a half.

I also had complimentary coffee, water & a cookie

Thanks Acura & Acura of Tempe.

Mine was replaced at the DLR like 3 times all-ready, I just ignore it now.
I thought the warrenty was up the 150K not lifetime?
Thats the main reason im ignoring it , I dont feel like paying money for something that will come back on a month later!

The seatbelts have a lifetime warranty.

The driver seatbelt buckle was shorting the SRS system. They replaced the drivers buckle.

I was posting this thread to remind people of the seatbelt warranty and point out there is an SRS/seatbelt connection.

I knew it had been covered, I just thought a current thread as a reminder not to spend money unnecessarily couldn't be bad

Yea, my SRS went on/off a few times after being reset.....now here is the kicker, my seatbelt light/indicator hasn't been on since the last time I got it reset, and the SRS light has been on since a few days after also! Any ideas on why the sealtbelt light has never come back on?

The female end of my seatbelt was replaced for free under warranty.

Good point to note...

That Acura will honor this regardless if salvaged or not!

There is a lifetime warranty on the seat belt components...not the SRS components.

FYI

But I didn't get a cookie...

anybody else having issues with the "side airbag" light.
it comes on every now and then in my car (may be three times in past 6-7 months).

last night, my brother was sitting in the passenger seat and he leaned towards the door and the light came on, and when he got back in straight position, it went off.
i asked him to do it again, but it didn't come on, then all of the sudden it came on for 2 secs again and went back off.

Mine does that also. I have a big laptop bag and if I put it on the seat the side airbag light comes on.

My Daughter was in the car last week we were sitting at a light and she leaned to the left and it came on. I leaned the same way but no light. Seems to be passenger seat specific.

Thats normal operation dude.

It supposed to light up when there is a child sitting in the seat so when people move around the system sometimes calculates the weight to be a child's weight and does what it has to do. Happens al the time in my car when my 100lb girlfriend moves around in the seat.

I dont' know what people saying it's normal to have the passenger side light on, the system will not function properly when light is on. Your airbags will not deploy, not only passenger and driver also.

The side airbag light is a warning that the person is not sitting upright and in a position consistent with the way the system was designed.

It is saying they may be harmed by the airbags.

The SRS light indicates faults in the system.

the passenger airbag lights up because it affects only the passenger airbag, nothing to do with the driver's airbag like the SRS light would.
the passenger airbag lights up because someone, like a child, is in that seat and the airbag will not go off. if it did, it would likey kill the child. same thing if someone was sitting awkwardly and the light came on. that light comes on for a good reason. you dont want that airbag to go off if that light is on.

Yes this is an Acura warranty, any Acura dealer should honor it.

Of course they said when I called it was dependent on the seat belt being the problem.

Call first just to be sure.

If I were you, I'd print that window sticker I posted and take it to them and say test the code due to the possibility that it MAY be the in warranty seatbelt.

The way I arrived at the belt was by resetting the SRS light and getting no code until I plugged in my seatbelt.

The code is 09-3 seatbelt buckle switch.

Good luck.

Yeah they always told me they would diagnose it and if it is a part that is not covered by the seatbelt warrenty then i would have to pay diag fee (like $120 at my DLR) but if it is something covered then they will wave the diag fee. both times I went iin the diag fee was waved cuz it was the belt buckle but like I said it just comes back on a few months later so I just leave the SRS light on now!

if they replaced the buckle, the light went away and then the light came back when you use the buckle, then its the buckle.
honestly i wouldnt care if i got a new seatbelt buckle every couple of months. its a free service anyways. it would get annoying though.

I'd call Acura corporate and tell them the dealer is refusing warranty service.

I also suggest you print my window sticker and ask them why it does not say buckle if that is all that is covered.

I used my OBD2 tool and cleared everything before I took it to the dealer.

You should do the same if you have the tool.
