The only reason I'm gonna do it is because the trunk is already apart....so it would be cheaper and easy to do!

I made it and set it up myself.

This is a old pic.

I've got a 15" Eclipse Aluminum in there now.

for the whole encloser...besides I'm not 100% positive but don't u have to build the box first out of wood and then smooth it all out buy using fiberglass afterwards. I was thinking of using like half MDF and half plexiglass but not exactly sure.

no one has utilized the trunk as a box? I had 8 (free air) 10's in my old z24. 4 behind the seat and 4 up top where the stock would be. Don't care too much for sound systems anymore but if I had the money I'd prob do it again.

Since I like to have women in the trunk of my car, I can't use it for audio equipment. I may do it though because I would like better sound from my car. Can't go too big as I need space for luggage.

Nicky I like yours how it is now .. I'm a huge JL fan .. if I was to do a system it would have the same exact products you used. I have a 500\1 sitting in my room from a previous vehicle, just waiting for a sub for the CL

Not clear, but imagine the box on the left removed and you'll see it's a slight variation on what you have ... except my sub (as mentioned many times b4) fires into car. NO RATTLES!!! And by just removing the false wall, complete access to the spare without removing the box.

All the installs are very nice.

Out of you guys that have done this, has anyone found a good match to the trunk liner material. I am getting ready to install a system and I need to fine a good match to my Acura CLS Red ext with Black int trunk liner.

Any help would be great,
Bill

Y2K.....how does the sub sound facing in the car? I was thinking of having my 10W7 fire into the car throught the pass through hole....but with all of my other set ups, when I face the subs towards the front...the bass disappeared and sounded like crap! How can you get good bass firing the sub into the car???

Sounds fine to my ears. My use of bass isn't to entertain the ricers in the next county, it is used to fill in the bottom part of the spectrum. Had the same set-up in my '90 Legend, except I was using 2 Polk 8's, but as you know the 10W7 is more than sufficient, especially when tied to the 500/1. Plus, all my gains are effectively down, so if I ever needed any addit 'punch', it's there for the taking. Should be easy enough for you to just spin your box and see what happens (as opposed to rotating it around). Give it a try.

Here's mine...a little plain jane...good if you want to go the simple, straightforward approach

in the dark

in the light

ski pass-through

As you can see, I'm pretty much strapped for room in my trunk. I ended up adding more and more after this initial install. I put in a center channel speaker for 5.1. The amp powering that is under a false floor in the driver's side rear footwell(behind my seat) and my cd changer is now under the passenger's seat.

Try fiberglass, its a little hard to mold at first but after a couple times youll be able to mold anything u want.

Build the box out of mdf, mold the fiberglass into it, take the box apart, youll have the mold of the box, and keep layering it to make it stronger and to the right consistency

Aluminum is 3X stronger and way lighter than wood....although you need to know how to weld and bend the stuff!
