legal issues....
does anyone in florida and georgia (my car is gonna be in and out of those states) kno if colored bulbs (i.e. blue) for the back turn signals are illegal? and another question...for the people with illegal tint, have you ever run into any trouble or does it not even matter? thanks
That's a good question. If you are out of state and you violate another state's law, is it ticketable (assuming of course it is not a violation in your own state)? Not talking about moving violations, et al.
What I have heard is that if you drive into another state and violate that states rule...then it would be your fault...you have an obligation to learn the rules for the state you will be traveling in...

I dont think it would apply as long as your mods are legal in the state which your car and driver license are registered.
It would make no sense if I have to remove my 35% tint, which is legal in TX, when I cross the California border. Or getting my tuned and repaired so that my car meet California's emission requirement even though my car passes TX's emission test.
davykim,
I think colored bulbs, other than ample, are illegal in every state, maybe Alaska is excepted

tis true, when you cross a state border, you are susceptible to any and all laws that are docturned with that state's borders. This includes "No walking donkeys on sidewalks on Sundays in Arkansas" and "No right turns on red in Auburn, Al." <-- the second I am witness to personally, that's my alma matter.
thanks...i figured the bulbs were illegal...but i saw so many nasty ass colored bulbs over in korea i figured i might as well check...but what about the illegal tint? do you guys get tickets at all for it or does it usually go unnoticed?

Well I did say moving violation, etc. But you can't tell me that if a state requires two license plates to show (Missouri) and my state (Kansas) only requires one, that I can be ticketed in Missouri. C'mmmmoooooooonnnnnnnnn!
I understand what you are saying anyway, but for a car, your entire car is subject to the rules and regulations in which it is registered.
But since we are talking about petty violations, you, the driver, are at the mercy of the police and there's nothing you can do except go down and explain it. For example: your car is registered in Georgia and your plates expire in May 2002, but in Georgia you are allowed 90 days grace. When you drive into Ohio, you might get a license plate expired ticket. Try explaining to the cop that you get 90 days.....

It shouldn't be any problem. I have 15% tint, & was only stopped for it once cause the state trooper couldn't find anything else wrong. $45 ticket. 1 & only time.
I used to live in NYC. There plate covers are illegal. I have a smoked plate cover on my car. I was parked on a private street in NYC. I came out at about 2am to move my car into the drivway. & saw a unmarked car, with a plain cloths cop giving me a ticket for it. I took it, wrote a letter to the NY DMV, & it was dismissed.

But something like NY where you have to have your headlights on when you use your windshield wipers--we don't have to do that in MA but when I cross the border if I don't do it, I can get fined.
