LED GAUGE MOD gone bad?
I read couple of threads on LED gauge conversions for a while now. So I started to do the same.
I got 168 bulbs and shaved the sides to fit the base.
I tried one and it worked fine.
So I shaved all other bulbs and now I put it back...
IT DOES NOT WORK!
My speedometer, tach, fuel and temp will not light up.
Needles work, but no lights.
I have SRS light that just decided to come up and stay on. All other lights such as vsa, check engine light, brake and etc works.
I checked ALL fuses and nothing's bad.
ANy ideas please?

first thing to check are the bulbs themselves. make you some wires and hook them up to the battery (i'm assuming they have the resistors inside the bulbs) if they work then good deal, move on. second thing to check is the + - sides of the bulbs. if they do not work one direction in the socket, turn them around. you should also just lay the gauges in the dash opening and plug them in for a test before you reinstall everything.
i find it weird that you have the polarity of every bulb switched but this might be the problem. also check the little wires on each bulb to ensure contact with the socket. once you switch them around plug them back in and wiggle them around in the socket to just make sure they are snug.

I think THIS THREAD really needs some more attention to people who are considering doing the LED conversion. Especially when using these types of bulbs.

I totally agree. I believe one of my lead was sticking out from the LEDs..., and short out or burnt the freaking board. My odometer and odometer lights work fine though. I'm guessing I can probably get reverse indiglow light with its own inveter and have the gauge light up that way. Because only thing that's not lighting up are the bulbs that are blue bulb base related. (Speedo, tach, fuel and temp)
I know the rever indiglow lights do not have the triangle for vsa off and redline is at 6500 instead of like 6750 ish.. but having an automatic, I think I don't mind that.
What do you think?
And by the way I used high flux spiral LEDS.. not just regular 5 spiral.I used 5 high flux spiral ones. LEDs are all still working fine. I just decided to put them in my maplights, license plate lights, trunk and courtesy lights.
And thanks again gaping.... for your help.
