Latteral G Sensor; Attn Waynes, Jens

I recently had the latteral G Sensor replaces on my 01 CL-S. The problem that was happening was the VSA light would turn on as well (The one that comes on when active). And the little "VSA" on the left part of the dash would as well. They would both stay on until the car was turned off and then back on. The VSA switch would not have any effect.

Well, I got the part replaced about 2 weeks ago and haven't had a problem till tonight. After about 10 minutes of cruising I was sitting at a light and the VSA lights turned on. Same thing as what I have had before.

I am wondering. Where is the sensor located? What does it DO??? And how sensitive is it to vibration because I was dumping quite a bit.

The lateral G sensor is really a solid state gyroscope. It's function is to tell the ecu in the car what attitude the car has relative to the intended direction of travel. It is located if memory serves me correctly on the right side of the trunk behind the carpeted covers.Your best bet is to allow your dealer another shot at fixing it as it may have developed another flaw or the G sensor may be defective etc.etc.To try to diagnose this system via this forum is virtually impossible due to it's complexity.Jens
